tonnes. (oi. 211-458);
The invention relates to improvements indisplay devices an'd has particular reference to meanslforming a supporting rack that maybe formed into any desired design wherein' are '5 housed and retained for-'disiay'purp'oses fruit;
articles of manufacture, various merchandise and foodstuffs, and factanyforni-of marketable commodities. a
The object of the invention resides'in the providing of a supporting base means having mounted therein a section or" member of a'display rack or device the contour'of which is'pyra'midal inform, having formed therein a plurality of apertured rings, "the, recesses in each thereof forming a plurality of cavities into which apples, oranges and similar" fruits are disposed, and a corresponding section or member hingeably mounted on said first mentioned or rigid section having likewise disposed in its supporting frame a plurality of rings-t0 form like apertures, the recesses of which form additional supporting means for said articles, each of said sections thereof having mounted thereon protective housing rods, bars or wires extending transversely of said sections, and having formed therein looped protective struts or bars conforming to each recessed aperture in each of said sections, the network of annularly formed reception and supporting means forming a protective housing for articles disposed therein for display purposes.
The structure shown and described in the drawings forming part hereof depict contours of pyramidal form producing an attractive display media, but I find that any contour may be produced such as quadrate, rectangular, hexagonal etc.
A further object of the invention lies in the providing of a display means wherein the supporting structure and housing frame work of the display sections thereof may be extended on varying lines in order to produce retaining media for receiving divers articles such as canned goods, cigarettes and any form of cartoned package or containers applicable for display purposes.
In the following there is described the general embodiment of the invention, the features thereof being more clearly outlined hereinafter in the claims.
In the drawings Fig. 1 is a face elevation of one form of display means employing the means of supporting base and retaining frame as a racking device for fruits, etc.; Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the display means shown in the type of structure illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawings having disposed therein a plurality of oranges; Fig. 3 is a fragmentary detail of the relative sections of the display rack or frame showing the corresponding structure in each section for receiving and supporting the display objects andthe means of hingeably attaching said sections together to form the protective housing for said objects; Fig. i is a face elevation of the display structure showing the supporting rack frame as being projected on extended lines to form a protective housing means for canned goods, and varying cartoned packages and receptacles; and Fig. 5 is a cross sectional view on the line 5-5 of Fig. 4 showing the structural 'formation of the supporting and housing frame for retaining and holding therein various shapes of cartoned commodities.-
Similar numerals of reference indicate similar parts throughout the several views of the drawings.
In the drawings l indicates a supporting base of any suitable design and shape being provided with a boss 2 having mounted-therein the leg ends 3 of the rear frame section t which comprises a single strand of wire having formed therein a series of bends 5 and semi-circular and partly circular bends 6, each semi-circular and quarter-circular bend having mounted therein circular rings 1 forming orifices 8 in the form of a triangular cluster 9, said frame thereof having welded thereto the ends ll] of a series of cross rods or wires l l each thereof having formed therein semi-circular bends i2 opposite each ringed orifice 8 to form one-half of thehousing for the-articles to be displayed, the other half of the rack comprising a frame it identical with frame 4 including the mounting bends 5 and the series of rings 1 to form similar orifices 8, and transverse rods ii, said frames 4 and 53 being hinged at l5 and provided at their opposite edges thereof with suitable clamping means 55 for locking the same together to provide the means for securely retaining such articles therein during display.
Referring to Fig. 4 of the drawings the structure therein shown comprises a base or supporting member It provided with a boss i'i having mounted therein the supporting legs M of the rear frame i9 which consists of a single rod or wire triangularly formed to provide a series of reception orifices 2B and a plurality of vertical rods 2| to form a housing for said orifices 26, together with a series of transverse bars 22 to form a lateral housing for a multiplicity of canned food cartons or packages 23 constituting the articles for display. Said frame i9 has formed thereon or attached thereto a handle or carrying means 24 by which the display rack may be rendered portable. 25 designates the front frame support provided with vertical supporting bars 26 and transverse bars 21 to form the front housing means of the rack, such bars 26 and 21 constituting the means of providing the housing structure for the display means, said frame members l9 and 25 being hinged together at 28, rendering the structure separable for the purpose of disposing the articles therein, and a suitable clip or catch may be employed to attach said frame sections together to render the same a secure housing and supporting means for various kinds and forms of articles of manufacture, that are the subject of display.
Further by reason of the fact that the series of supporting struts and wires form the housing protective means it produces a structure wherein it is impossible to withdraw any of said articles therefrom rendering same a safety display apparatus.
It is obvious that the structure may be varied in many ways Without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is:
l. A device of the character described comprising a display device consisting of a supporting means, and a rack body of two separably hinged members one of which is integral with said supporting means each member thereof having formed therein a plurality of orifices arranged to jointly form a multiplicity of reception cavities adapted to support and house fruits and similar articles for display purposes.
2. A device of the character described comprising a display device consisting of a supporting means, and a rack body of two separably hinged members each thereof having formed therein a plurality of orifices arranged to jointly form a multiplicity of reception cavities adapted to support and house cartoned packages for display purposes, one of said members being rigidly mounted in said supporting means, and the other member being hinged to said first mentioned member. 7
3. A device of the character described comprising a supporting base, a semi-apertured supporting frame rigidly mounted therein, a plurality of orifices therein arranged in symmetrical form, a semi-apertured supporting frame hingeably connected with'said rigidly disposed frame, a plurality of orifices formed in said last mentioned frame, the orifices in each of said frames forming a series of symmetrically disposed cavities arranged to receive articles for display purposes.
4. A device of the character described comprising a supporting means, a rack consisting of a wire body symmetrically formed and rigidly mounted thereon, a plurality of circular orifices mounted therein, transverse bars forming part of said orifices mounted on said rack body, a rack consisting of a Wire body symmetrically formed and hinged to said first mentioned rack, a plurality of circular orifices mounted therein, transverse bars forming part of said orifices mounted on said rack, the orifices in each rack section thereof forming a plurality of reception recesses arranged to receive various types of articles for display purposes.
