Description

- Dec. 11, 1934. M. LINDNER 1,983,907
LIMB HEATER Filed April '7, 1933 Patented Dec. 11, 1934 UNITED STATE PATENT OFFICE Application April 7, 1933, Serial No. 664,930 In Germany March 7, 1932 1 Claim.
It is known, in connection with motor vehicles, to lead off by means of a pipe the drawn-in cooling air after it has been heated and to allow it to escape at certain points.
According to the present invention this heated air is conducted by means of a pipe into cups, so that when travelling the limbs (hands, knees) of the driver are flushed with hot air and also protected against draught and weather influences.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawing in which:-
Fig. 1 shows in side elevation the arrangement with exhaust point on the handle bars.
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of Fig. 1, the benzine tank being omitted.
Fig. 3 shows the cup in side elevation.
Fig. 4 is a top plan view of Fig. 3.
It is evident that the hot air can be discharged at some other point, for example at the knees and feet of the driver or simultaneously at these points.
The cooling air heated by the engine 3 is 25 caught either by automatic suction or by a fan 4 on the opposite side by a hood-shaped hot air receiving device 5, which entirely or partly surrounds the cylinder 6. The cooling air is positively conducted around the cylinder 6, so that 30 the taking up of heat is favorably influenced. A pipe conduit 7 is connected to the discharge connection of the hood like receiving device 5 and leads to the points at which the hot air is to engine cylinder may be conducted not only to 10 the hand of the cyclist but also directly to in front or" the feet of the cyclist, in which case the heating arrangement for the hands is provided also for the feet. The hot air conducted by the pipe conduit 7 into the cups 8 flushes over the 15 surface of the limbs to be heated, i. e. the hands or/and the feet of the cyclist.
I claim:
An arrangement on motor cycles with aircooled engines for utilizing and conducting the 20 heated air over the hands and feet of the driver, comprising in combination with the engine cylinder, a hood on said cylinder adapted to catch the heated cooling air from said cylinder, a pipe conduit leading from said hood to the limbs of the driver to be warmed and adapted to deliver the heated air caught by said hood directly in front of the limbs to be warmed, and cups on said conduit surrounding the limbs to be warmed and adapted to guide the heated air delivered by said conduit around the limbs so that the air directly flushes over the surface thereof.
