What I claim is:
1. In linemens climbers, the combination of a metal leg strap having a conventional spur, pad and fastening strap, a cylindrical stirrup on the lower end of the leg strap, a foot plate mounted for free pivotal movement on the stirrup, said foot plate extending under the instep, the entire bottom surface of the heel and the major portion of the sole of the boot or shoe.
2. In linemens climbers, in combination with the device defined in claim 1, a heel guard plate secured to the heel of the foot plate and adapted to engage around the heel of the boot or shoe, heel straps attached to said heel guard plate, and toe straps attached to the foot plate.
3. In linemens climbers, the combination of a metal leg strap having a conventional spur, pad and fastening strap, a stirrup on the lower end of said strap, a foot plate, a trunnion affixed to the underside of the foot plate at the instep, bearings in which the trunnion pivots, said bearings being afiixed to the stirrup, and retaining I means on the ends of the trunnion.
4. In linemens climbers, the combination of a metal leg strap having a spur, pad and fastening strap, a cylindrical stirrup formed on the lower end of the leg strap, a foot plate extending under the entire area of the heel and having free pivotal movement, instep and a con siderable portion of the sole, means pivotally connecting the instep of the foot plate with the stirrup, the foot plate having apertures in the heel and sole to prevent slipping while walking on the ground.
5. In linemens climbers, the combination of a metal leg strap having a spur, pad and fastening strap, a stirrup formed on the lower end of the leg strap, a foot plate extending under substantially the entire bottom of the foot except the toe portion, a heel guard plate secured to the heel portion of the foot plate, means pivotally connecting the instep of the foot plate with the stirrup, means for attaching the foot plate to the foot or shoe, and a riser in the heel portion of the foot plate to prevent too much weight resting on the instep of the foot plate.
