A further object of this invention is to equip locomotive tenders with a plurality oi conveyorswhichi a-re mounted on the rear slop'e' sheet of the fuel bin, the conveyors being arranged in spaced 16 relationtransversely of" therear slope sheet and each being independently operated. V

A locomotive tender having a fuel bin provided with a slope sheet and a shovelling platform at the forward end of the tender, a plurality of screw conveyors mounted on said slope sheet for advancing fuel from said fuel bin onto said shovelling platform, said screw conveyors being driven from their forward ends, and a bearing for the lower end of each screw, the diameters of said screw conveyors tapering upwardly and at their lower ends the fuel impelling surfaces of the several screw conveyors extending substantially the full width of said shovelling platform.
17. A locomotive tender having a fuel bin provided with a floor and a slope sheet, an alcove beneath said floor forward of the slope sheet, a screw conveyor mounted on the slope sheet, means for driving said conveyor, said means being disposed within said alcove and penetrating said floor.
18. A locomotive tender having a fuel bin provided with a floor and a slope sheet, a screw conveyor mounted on the slope sheet, and means for driving said screw conveyor, said means including a shaft operatively associated with said screw conveyor and extending through said floor.

A locomotive tender having a fuel bin provided with a floor and a slope sheet, a screw conveyor mounted on the slope sheet, means for driving said screw conveyor, said means includ- 3 ing a shaft operatively associated with said screw conveyor and extending through said floor, and a bearing for said shaft mounted to the fuel bin.

A locomotive tender having a fuel bin provided with a floor and a slope sheet, screw con- Iii veyors mounted on the slope sheet, and means extending upward through the floor of the tender for driving said screw conveyors, said means mounted on the underside of said fuel bin floor and including a bearing,
a screw shaft journalled in said bearing, a power shaft, means for supporting a power shaft, and means for engaging and disengaging said screw shaft with the power shaft.

A'locomotive tender having a fuel bin'provided with a floor and a slope sheet, a water compartment, an alcove at the forward end of the slope sheet beneath said fuel binfioor, partition plates separating said water compartment from said fuel bin and said alcove, a screw conveyor mounted on saidslope sheet, and means for driving said conveyor, said means being disposed in said alcove and comprising a support including a bearing attached to the fuel bin floor, a shaft journalled in said bearing and having a driving extension below said bearing, said screw being in driving engagement with said shaft, said extension being provided with a clutch element arranged to be in driving engagement with said extension, and means for imparting motion to said clutch element.

A locomotive tender having a fuel bin provided with a slope sheet and a floor having openings therein, fuel advancing screws on said slope sheet, means for driving said screws disposed beneath the fuel bin floor including a support, said screws having shaft extensions passing through said openingsvand being rjournalled in said support, and means for imparting motion to said shafts. 7 I
24. A locomotive tender having a fuel bin provided with a floor and a slope sheet, fuel advancing screwsmounted on the slope sheet, and means for driving said fuel advancing screws from their forward ends, said means being disposed beneath said fuel bin floor.
