6 Claims. (Cl. 229-23) The main objects of this invention are: A
First, to provide a container that is grease and moisture proof, well adapted for peanut butter, lard and the like.-
Second, to provide a container of this character consisting of two complete wall units nested closely or fitting one within the other and having an interlining disposed between the wall units which is grease and moisture proof.
Third, to provide improved cover retaining means.
Fourth, to provide a container having the above desirable features, which is simple and economical in its parts and eiiicient for the purpose intended.
Objects relating to details and economies of my invention willappear from the description to follow. The invention is defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure which is a preferred embodiment of my invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:

Fig. '7 is an enlarged fragmentary perspective view, portions being broken away and shown in vertical section.
Referring to the drawing, l is a container having downwardly tapered side walls and an insert cover 2. The container 1 is formed of an outer wall .unit 3 and an inner wall unit or lining e nested closely together, or with the inner carton fitting within the outer carton, there being a (grease prooi interlining 5 of metal foil, Cellophane or the like disposed between the wall units. Thus arranged, the double-walled container 1 is grease and moisture proof, the inner and outer wall units being preferably formed of stin` paper, or cardboard.
The cuter wah unit 3 is made up from a blank, (Fig. 2l consisting of abottom 6 having a pair ci flaps i at opposite sides thereof and side walls 9 connected thereto along hinged lines. Connected to the side walls 8 along hinged lines are flaps or plies 9 and 10, respectively, which are Y overlapped with the iiaps 7 therebetween to form two-ply, side walls. The innerplies 9 of the twoply side walls of the outer wall unit are provided with horizontal slots 11 arranged in spaced parallel relation to the top of the container.
The inner wall unit or lining 5 is similarly 0' made up of a blank (Fig. 3) consisting of a bottom 12 having aps 13 at opposite sides thereof and side walls 14 connected thereto along hinged lines. The plies 15 and 16, respectively, are connected to theside walls 14 along hinged lines 55 and are adapted to be overlapped with the naps 13 therebetween to form the two-ply side walls of the inner wall unit. The upper edges or tops 17 of the inner plies 15 terminate in spaced relation tothe top ofy the container. Flaps 18 are 70 connected to the side walls 14 along the hinged lines 19, while the hinged flaps 20 are connected to the outer plies 16 along the hinged lines 21. The inner wall unit is set up in the manner illustrated by Fig. 5 andthe naps 20 are folded 75 over the tops 1'7 of the inner plies 15. The aps 18 are folded inwardly and coact with the flaps 20 to provide a cover supporting shoulder or ledge on which the cover 2 is adapted to rest.
The inner and outer wall units are set up and nested together with the grease proof interlining disposed therebetween, as illustrated by Figs. 6
'and 7. The cover 2 is inserted within the upperv -of the cover side walls are provided with slits 23 forming outwardly projecting tongues 2d which are adapted to coact with the slots 11 to lock the 99 cover in position within the container. The container thus formed is grease and moisture proof and is very strong and rugged. The filled containers may be stacked in superimposed relation without fear of the covers collapsing due to the 95 weight of the cartons thereabove. This results from the cover supporting shoulder formed by the inturned flaps of the inner wall member.
The completed containerA is very rigid and resists collapsing to a marked degree. It also lo@ possesses the desirable characteristics of being grease and moisture proof.
1 have illustrated and described my improve-- ments in embodiments which I have foundvery practical. I have not attempted to illustrate or, 05 describe other embodiments or adaptations, as it is believed this disclosure will enable those skilled in the art to embody or adapt my improvements as may be desired.
Having thus described my invention, whatI u@ claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. A double wall container comprising a downwardly tapered outer wall unit having opposed side walls comprising overlapping plies, the inner plies having horizontal slots spaced from the upper edge thereof, a downwardly tapered inner wall unit nested within said outer wall unit and having opposed side walls comprising overlapping plies, the two-ply side walls of said inner wall unit being disposed to overlap the single ply walls of the outer wall unit, the inner plies of the inner wall unit two-ply side walls terminating in spaced relation to the top of the container, the outer plies having flaps bent inwardly over the upper edges of said inner plies and coacting with similarly inwardly bent flaps on the single ply side walls to provide a. cover supporting ledge, and a cover disposed within the outer wall unit to rest upon said cover supporting ledge of the inner wall unit and having upstanding side walls; a pair of the said cover side walls being slitted to provide outwardly projecting tongues coacting with said slots to retain the cover in position.
2. A double wall container comprising a downwardly tapered outer wall unit having opposed side walls comprising overlapping plies, a downwardly tapered inner wall unit nested within said outer wall unit and having opposed side walls comprising overlapping plies, the two-ply side walls of said inner 4wall unit being disposed to overlap the single ply walls of the outer wall unit, the inner plies of the inner wall unit twoply side walls terminating in spaced relation to the top of the container, the outer plies having flaps bent inwardly over the upper edges of said inner plies and coacting with similarly inwardly bent aps onthe single ply side walls to provide a cover supporting ledge, and a cover disposed within the outer wall unit to rest upon said cover supporting ledge of the inner wall unit.

A double wall container comprising a downwardly tapered outer wall unit having opposed side walls comprising overlapping plies, the inner plies having horizontal slots spaced from the upper edge thereof, a downwardly tapered inner wall unit nested within said outer wall unit and having inwardly bent cover supporting flaps, and a cover disposed within the outer wall unit to rest upon said cover supporting iiap of the inner wall unit and having tongues coacting with said slots to retain the cover in position.
4. A double wall container comprising a downwardly tapered outer wall unit having opposed side walls comprising overlapping plies, the inner plies having horizontal slots spaced from the upper edge thereof, a downwardly tapered inner wal'l unit nested within said outer wall unit with its upper edge spaced from the top thereof, and a cover disposed within the outer wall u nit to rest upon said inner wall unit and having tongues coacting with said slots to retain the cover in position.
5. A container comprising an outer complete box-like wall unit of fiber board, an inner complete. box-like wall unit of fiber board nested within said outer wall unit and having inturned aps on its walls providing cover supporting ledges placed from the top of the outer wall unit, a
