This invention "has for its object a mounting 'for appliances which, when not in use, are demounted and when in use ordinarilyclamped to 'a table or bench, which lmounting is particular- `ly simple and Aeconomical in construction and `which `can be readily and iirmly secured to the appliance, so that the appliance in use will not become loosened and require constant readjusting of its clamping means.

The invention consists in the novel features `and in the combinations and constructions `hereinafter set -forth and claimed.

In describing this invention, reference is had to the accompanyingldrawing in which like characters designate corresponding parts in all the views.

Figure 1 `is a vertical sectional -view of this mounting, the same being shown as applied vto a table and a contiguous portion of a machine or `appliance to which the bracket-of `the mounting is attached, being also shown.

In appliances, particularly household appli- .30 ances as food grinders and other machines, which are ordinarily temporarily clamped to a table by a jaw clamp or C clamp, the screw of the clamp is constantly becoming loosened during the operation of the appliances, necessitating constant 1:35 tightening, as the table and benches are not provided with surfaces or means intended to coact with such a clamp, and the constant loosening and tightening of the clamp aggravates the condition.

The principal object of this invention is a ,40 mounting or attaching device by which the ap- ,50 preferably having means by which the C clamp or other clamp of the appliance, can be permanently fixed thereto.

as a wall, post, bench or table. When applied to (Cl. '24S-20) a bench or table, the base is applied to the outer surface of the board 3 underlying the margin 4 of the top of the table, which margin overhangs the board. The base with the means for interlocking with the bracket to be described is nearly 30 flat so that there are no prominent projections on its face for catchingon clothes etc., particularly when the base is mounted on one of the upright boards of the table.

Preferably, the interlocking means is arranged at the angles of an `g5 inverted triangular formation with the pivot located at the center of the base line. The interlocking means at the opposite ends of the base line, that is, on opposite sides of the pivot 9 are here shown as oppositely-disposed-open- `19.0 ended slots formed in one of said elements and shoulders for hooking into the slots on the other element. 1l and 12 designate respectively the slots, which are here shown as formed in a downwardly extending ilange 13 provided on the 95 bracket, which flange overlies the upper margin of the base, one slot l1 opening upwardly through the upper end of the ilange and the other slot 12 opening downwardly through the lower end of the flange and the base plate is formed with offset shoulders or

The third of the interlocking means is located at the apex of the inverted triangle and is here shown, as a key slot 16, formed in one of the said elements, here shown as the bracket, and a shoulder or shoulders 17 struck from the base. The key slot has a widened entrance portion for permitting the passage of the shoulders 17 into the key slot and a contracted portion, whereun by upon rotary movement of the bracket, the shoulders enter the contracted portion and interlock therewith, when the

14, 15, slot 16 and shoulders 17, are so arranged that when turning the crank of the appliance, as a food grinder, the means tend to tighten rather than loosen.

The bracket is here shown as struck from sheet metal and as havingan offset portion 18 for entering under the overhanging margin of the top 4 or" the bench or table and an upwardly extending portion 19 on which a shelf 20 is mounted substantially flush with the table top. The portion 19 is biiurcated or formed with a slot therein and the shelf bridges the slot. As here shown, the biurcated portion 21 is bent downwardly and the lower end thereof is formed with the key slot 16 which coacts with the shoulders 17.

In operation, the clanp 7 or tie appliance is secured to the shelf 2f), the clamping screw 8 passing between the bifurcations 21. Preferably, the bracket 5 is supplied for each appliance, so that the clamping screw 8 can be permanently secured to the shelf and an insecure seat therefor being avoided by repeated demounting or the appliance from the bracket. The shelf is made oi suitable material, so that the clamping screw can permanently seat therein without becoming loose. However, in m.anuacturing the appliance, the C clamp may be omitted the bracket made a permanent part thereof.

ln operation, each of the various appliances attachable to the table or other support is rnily mounted on a bracket and in mounting the appliance on the table, the ap' liance with the bracket thereon mounted on the base by first tilting the appliance so that the bearing 10 in the bracket is anned with the pivot 9 and the shoulders 17 alined with the wide part of the keyslot 16, and then the bracket and appliance moved axially so that tre ivot ,in 9 enters the bearing lo in the bracke and the shoulders 17 enter the widened portion of the key slot 16. The appliance and bracket are then turned about the pivot in one direction, here illustrated as a clockwise direction, thus moving the shoulders 17 into the narrow part of the key slot, moving the slots 11 and l2v into interlocking engagement with the hooks 14, l5.

By this mounting, appliances, as food grinders and the like can be quickly mounted and deinounted and when mounted are rigidly held 'from becoming loose during the operation of the appliance.

What I claim is:

1. A mounting for demountable appliances comprising two elements, one a base mountable upon a support and the other a bracket secured to the appliance, one of said elements being formed with a pivot pin and the other with a bearing for receiving the pin and both of said elements being provided with means for interlocking upon rotary movement of the bracket about the axis of the pivot pin, said interlocking means being located at the angles oi a triangle with the axis of the pivot pin located at the center o the base or the triangle, two of said interlocking means located on opposite ends of the base of the triangular formation being oppositely-extending, open-ended slots in one of said elements and shoulders on the other of said elements for entering the slots upon rocking movement of the bracket about the pivotal axis, and the third interlocking means being a key slot in one of said elements and key member on the other of said l elements for entering the key slot and interlocking therewith upon rotary movement of the bracket about the pivotal axis.

2. A mounting for appliances having clamping means for securing them to a bench or table, said mounting comprising two elements, one a base plate for permanent attachment to a support, and the other a bracket having means for interlocking with the base, the bracket having means for coacting with the clamping means of the appliance whereby the appliance can be attached to the bracket and the appliance and bracket as a unit detachably mounted at will on the base, said bracket being bifurcated and the shelf bridging the bifurcations whereby the clamp of the appliance is clamped to the shelf between the bifurcations.
