A hoisting tool of the character described comprising a hand lever having a yoke, a pair of swingable claws on the yoke, bell cranks carried by the yoke, said bell cranks being swingable on the yoke, a spring interposed between one end of each of the bell cranks and a corresponding claw, a spring connection between the remaining ends of the bell cranks, a clevis suspended from the yoke and center changing means interposed between the said clevis and the said bell cranks, said means comprising a pair of diverging slots on the clevis link members extending toward the clevis from the spring connected ends of the bell cranks and a pin for pivotally connecting the inner ends of the links together, said pin being operative in the said slots.

A hoisting tool of the character described comprising a hand lever having a yoke, a pair of swingable claws on the yoke, bell cranks carried by the yoke, said bell cranks being swingable on the yoke, a spring interposed between one end of each of the bell cranks and a corresponding claw, a spring connection between the remaining ends of the bell cranks, a clevis suspended from the yoke, center changing means interposed between the said clevis and the said bell cranks, said means comprising a pair of diverging slots on the clevis, link members extending toward the clevis from the spring connected ends of the bell cranks and a pin for pivotally connecting the inner ends of the links together, said pin being operative in the said slots, said clevis being provided with a notch at the merging point of the said slots for centering the claws when the pin engages therein.
