As the bar moves across the stationary table 31 the lever 29 is actuated, due to the engagement of the bar therewith, thus actuating the segment 32 against the tension of the spring 45 and imparting a clockwise rotative movement to the actuating cam 34. This movement of the actuating cam 34, imparts an inward movement to the retaining latch 39, about its pivot 40, due to the engagement of the roller 41 with the same surface 38. The latch 39 is held in this position by the engagement of the roller 41 with the cam surface 37 during engagement of the bar with the actuating lever 29.
As soon as the bar has passed mechanism and has reached a position entirely upon the table 10, the actuating lever' 29 will be released, allowing the spring 45 to return the segment 32-to its normal position, thus rotating the actuating cam 34 in a counter-clockwise direction and allowing the latch 39 to bewithdrawn from its engagement with the arm 19 by means of the spring 42, and by means of the roller 41 engaging with the cam surfaces 38 and 36.
Immediately upon the release of the latch 39, the table 10 will be moved about the shaft 11 as a pivot due to the weight of the bar upon the table and consequently a faster movement to the movable rod guide 16 due to the engagement of thelever 21 therewith will result. It will be observed by viewing Fig. 5 that the arm of the lever 21 upon which the roller 24 is mounted, relatively short compared with the arm upon which the roller 23 is mounted. Therefore, the movement of the lever 21, due to its engagement with the table 10, will move the movable guide 16 faster than the table, thus positioning the movable guide beyond the free edge of the table when the table is in the lowennost position. When the table is in this position the bar is allowed to pass from the table upon the chute 2'7 and into the rolling apparatus 28.
After the bar has passed from the table 10, the counter-weights26 will impart a movement to the brackets 18, thus moving the guide 16 into its normal position, and at the same time moving the table 10 into its normahposition, due to the operative engagement of the lever 21 with the table. The table is now in readiness for receiving another or succeeding bar.
With this construction, it is obvious that a positive means is provided for receiving and dispensing the bars from one operation to another, and that the dispensing of the bars is accomplished by an eflicient mechanical means which is actuated by the movement and weight It will be further observed that the of the bar. device is positive in its action and serves to prevent the actuation of the table '10 until the bar has completely passed thereupon as the actuating mechanism cannot be released until the bar has passed this point and onto the table.
Although a specific form of apparatus has been disclosed as exemplifying the embodiment of the invention, it is understood that other forms of apparatus might be used without departing from the spirit and scope;,of the present invention.
What is claimed is: a
1. In an apparatus for receiving and dispensing bars, a table member, a. bar guide associated with an edge of said table member, means the actuating actuated by movement of said table member for moving said guide with respect to said edge of the table when said table is moved in one direction, and means for moving said guide for moving said table member in the opposite direction.
'2. In an apparatus for receiving and dispensing bars, a table member for receiving a bar, means for holding said table against movement by the movement of the bar onto said table, said means comprising a latch for engaging with said table, and means actuated by the movement or the bar for actuating said latch.
3. In an apparatus for receiving and dispensing bars, a table member for receiving a bar, means for holding said table against movement by the movement of the bar onto said table, said means comprising a latch for engaging with said table, means actuated by the movement of the bar for actuating said latch, and means for releasing said latch when said latch actuating means is released.
4. In an apparatus for receiving and dispensing bars, a table member for receiving a bar, means for pivotally supporting said table member, a bar guide associated with an edge of said table member mounted upon said pivotal supporting means, and means operatively connecting said table member with said guide member for moving said guide with respect to said edge of the table member when said table member is moved in one direction to permit the dispensing of the bar from the table by the action of gravity.
5. In an apparatus for receiving and dispensing bars, a table member, means for pivotally supportingsaid table member, a bar guide associated with an edge of said table member mounted-upon said pivotal supporting means, and means operatively connecting said table member with said guide member for moving said guide with respect to said edge of the table member when said table member is moved in one direction, and means for moving said guide for moving said table member in the opposite direction.
6. In an apparatus for receiving and dispens-,

means for pivotally supporting said table member, a bar guide associated with an edge of said table member mounted upon said pivotal supporting means, and means operatively connecting said table member to said guide for moving said guide with respect to said edge of the table member when said table member is moved in one direction by the bar for dispensing the bar.
7. In an apparatus for receiving and dispensing bars, a table member for receiving a bar, means for pivotally supporting said table member, a bar guide associated with an edge of said table member mounted upon said pivotal supporting means, means operatively connecting said table member with said guide for moving said guide with respect to said edge of the table member when said table member is moved in one direction by the bar for dispensing the bar, and means for receiving the bar dispensed from said table member.
8. In an apparatus for receiving and dispensing bars, a table member for receiving a bar, means for pivotally supporting said table member, a bar guide associated with an edge of said table member mounted upon said pivotal supporting means, means operatively connecting said table member with said guide for moving said guide with respect to said edge of the table member when said table member is moved in one direction by the bar, and means for moving said guide for moving said table member in the opposite direction.
9. In an apparatus for receiving and dispensing bars, a movable table member having a plane surface normally positioned horizontally for receiving and supporting a bar, means adapted to be actuated by the bar previous to its moving onto said table for holding said table member against movement for dispensing the bar, and means for releasing said table member holding means when the bar is received by said table member.
10. In an apparatus for receiving and dispensing bars, a table member for receiving a bar, a bar guide associated-with an edge of said table member, and means actuated by movement of said table member for moving said guide across said edge during movement of the table member to permit the dispensing of the bar from the table by the action of gravity.
11. Inan apparatusfor receiving and dispensing bars, a movable table member having a plane surface normally positioned horizontally for receiving and supporting a bar,- and means for automatically holding said table against movement for dispensing the bar by the movement of the bar onto said table, said means including a member arranged in the path of the bar before it moves onto the table.
12. In an apparatus for receiving and dispensing bars, a movable member having a plane surface normally positioned horizontally for receiving and supporting a bar, means for holding said member against movement, and means actuated by the movement of the bar thereon for actuating said holding means.
13. In an apparatus for receiving and dispens ing bars, dispensing means actuated by a bar, said means including a member pivotal about a fixed axis and having a plane surface normally positioned horizontally upon which the bar is received and supported until dispensed, and means for returning said dispensing means to normal position after the bar is dispensed.
14. In an apparatus for receiving and dispensing bars, amovable member having a plane surface normally positioned horizontally for receiving and solely supporting a bar, means actuated by the movement of the bar thereon for holding said member against movement, and means for releasing said member whereby said member may be actuated.
15. In an apparatus for receiving and dispensing bars, a movable member for receiving and supporting a bar, a movable guide memher for preventing accidental displacement of the bar from the supporting member, and means responsive to a movement of the supporting member for moving the guide member relative to the supporting member to thereby cause the bar to be dispensed from the supporting member.
16. In an apparatus for receiving and dispensing bars, a movable member for receiving and supporting a bar and gravity actuated by the weight of the bar for dispensing the bar, holding means for preventing gravity actuation of said member, and means actuated by the bar for controlling said holding means and thereby said gravity actuation of the member.
17. In an apparatus for receiving and dispensing bars, a movable member for receiving and supporting a bar and gravity actuated by the weight of the bar for dispensing the bar, holding means for preventing gravity actuation of said member, and means disposed in the path of the bar operatively connected to said holding means and efiective while engaged by the bar to render the holding means effective for preventing the gravity actuation of the member.
18. In an apparatus for receiving and dispensing bars, a movable member forreceiving and supporting a bar and gravity actuated by the weight of the bar for dispensing the bar, holding means for preventing gravity actuation ofsaid member, and means disposed in the path of the bar operatively connected to said holding means and effective while engaged by the bar to render the holding means effective for preventing the gravity actuation of the member, said means disposed in the path of the bar being effective upon the disengagement of the bar therefrom to cause an actuation of the holding means for releasing the gravity actuated member.
19. In an apparatus for receiving and dispensing bars, a movable member for receiving and supporting a bar and gravity actuated to dispense the bar, a movable guide member for preventing accidental displacement of the bar from the supporting member, and means responsive to a gravity actuation of the supporting member for moving the guide member relative to the supporting member.
