In the use of the lift, an automobile is driven onto the tracks of the lift, whereupon air under pressure is admitted to the piston 20, the air acting against the head of the piston and oil level in the cylinder.
Oil is forced into the cylinder 6, causing the piston 21 thereof to be elevated, and since the pressure in both cylinders is equal, and because one piston relies on the movement of the adjacent piston, the pistons will move vertically in unison.
When it is desired to lower the lift, the valve 27 is operated to exhaust the air from the system, allowing the pistons to move downwardly and the oil to assume its normal level as shown in Figure 1 of the drawings.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:
1. An automobile lift comprising in combination, a pair of cylinders, pistons operating in the cylinders, said cylinders adapted to contain oil, a pipe establishing communication between the cylinders, one of the pistons having an open bottom, an air pipe extending into the piston having the open bottom, the: discharge end of the pipe being disposed above the oil level in the cylinders, and adapted to discharge air against the head of the piston forcing the oil into the adjacent cylinder and elevating the pistons simultaneously.

An automobile lift comprising in combination, a pair of cylinders, pistons operating in the cylinders, said cylinders adapted to contain oil, a pipe establishing communication between the cylinders whereby oil passes from one cylinder to the other cylinder, one of the pistons having an opening in its bottom, a pipe extending into the open-ended piston and adapted to direct air under pressure to the space between the oil level in the piston and head of the piston, moving the piston upwardly and forcing the oil against the piston in the adjacent cylinder, elevating the u; pistons simultaneously.
. 3. An automobile lift comprising in combination, a-pair of communicating cylinders adapted .to contain oil, pistons operating in the cylinders, one of the pistons having an opening in the bottom thereof allowing oil to enter, the piston, a
pipe extending into one of the pistons and adapted to discharge air at a point between the head the bottom thereof permitting oil to pass into the piston, a pipe extending into the open-ended piston and adapted to direct air under pressure to thespace between the head of the piston and oil level,'forcing the oil in one cylinder against the pistonof, the adjacent cylinder elevating the pistons and means for controlling the passage of air under pressure to the cylinders.
5. An automobile lift comprising a pair of cylinders, lifting pistonsoperating within the cylinders, a pipe establishing communication between the cylinders, said cylinders containing oil, means for directin air under pressure to one of the cylinders, thereby forcing oil from one cylinder againstthe piston of the adjacent cylinder, thereby elevating thepistons, and means for controlling the passage of air to the lift,
6. An automobile lift, comprising in combination, a pair of communicating cylinders. adapted to contain oil, pistons movable in the cylinders, one of the cylinders constituting a reservoir for supplying .oil to the adjacent cylinder, and means for'directing air to the cylinder constituting the oil reservoir, lifting the piston containedtherein and forcing the oil against the piston of the adjacent cylinder, simultaneously lifting the pistons.
7. 'An aut om'obile lift comprising in combination, a pair of cylinders, said-cylinders adapted to contain oil, pistons operating within the cylinders, an air pipe extending into one of the pistons andhavingthe discharge end thereof disposed above the oil level, the piston in the opa posite cylinder having its lowermost wall closed, means for directing air to the cylindersfand means for controlling the passage of air to the cylinders.
