2 Sheets-Sheet 2 Inventor Patented Apr. 3, 1934 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 2 Claims.
The present invention relates to a device for holding hose for the purpose of sprinkling a lawn or the like.
The prime object of the invention resides in the provision of a holding device of this nature in the form of a simple apparatus which is inexpensive tomanufacture, light in construction, easy to move from place to place, attractive in appearance, thoroughly efficient and reliable in use and well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
, Another very important object of the invention resides in the provision of this nature which includes means for holding the hose nozzle pointed in different directions.
With the above and numerous other objects in View as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of an apparatus embodying the features of my invention.
Figure 2 is a top plan view thereof.
Figure 3 is an end elevation thereof.
Figure 4 is a detail section taken substantially on the line 4-4 of Figure 1, and
Figure 5 is a perspective view of the holding bar.
Referring to the drawings in detail it will be seen that numeral 5 denotes a plate to the side edges of which are fixed side plates 6 being preferably of an ornamental configuration and having the upper edge 7 thereof in an arcuate formation with a plurality of pins 8 radiating therefrom terminating in knobs 9. A pair of legs 10 are fixed to each side plate 6 and diverge downwardly from each other. As shown in Figures 2, 3 and 4 the legs on one plate diverge downwardly and outwardly with respect to the legs on the other plate.
Numeral 11 denotes a bar on the ends of which are formed or fixed knobs 12. A clip of soft wire is formed from a single strand of wire bent over upon itself to provide a bight portion 14 with a pair of legs 15 extending through the bar. Knobs 16 are provided on the ends of the legs 15. This bar is extended across the arcuate edge 7 of the side plates 6 as shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3 and of course may be placed between any of the desired pins depending upon the direction-desired for the nozzle of the hose. The clip is wrapped about the nozzle of the hose or adjacent thereto as indicated in Figure 1.
It is thought that the construction, utility and advantages of this invention will now be clearly understood by those skilled in this art without a more detailed description thereof.
The present embodiment of the invention has been described in, considerable detail merely for the purposes of exemplification since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description.
It will be apparent that changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:
l. A device for holding a hose in various positions for sprinkling purposes, comprising a pair of vertically arranged plates having arcuate upper edges, 2. row of spaced pins projecting from said edge of each plate, a cross plate located between the lower portions of said plates for spacing them apart, legs connected to the lower portions of the vertically arranged plates, a cross bar adapted to be supported by any one of the pairs of pins-in the two plates, and means for detachably connecting a part of the hose to said cross bar.
2. A device for holding a hose in various positions for sprinkling purposes, comprising a pair of vertically arranged plates having arcuate upper edges, a row of spaced pins projecting from said edge of each plate, a cross plate located between the lower portions of said plates for spacing them apart, legs connected to the lower portions of the vertically arranged plates, a cross bar adapted to be supported by any one of the pairs of pins in the two plates, means for detachably connecting a part of the hose to said cross bar, such means consisting of a flexible wire connected with the cross bar and adapted to be wrapped around said portion of the hose.
