JW# mi Patented Mar. 27, 1934 Uivrrrl)` STATES 1,952,540 Y ROUND GAME ErkaDonath, Meissen, Germany Application April 99, 193s,`seria1 No. 668,491 In Germany December 31, 1932 6 Claims.
This invention relates to a new gaine which is entertaining and at the same time instructive, and'1 intended vchieiy for children. The rules andf manner of playing the game are exactly simpart ofwhich an intermediate plate is rigidly or exchangeably inserted at a certain distance from the bottom plate and over this intermediate plate a cover plate bearing the picture is arranged. Series of apertures, registering with one another are arranged, i. e. in the bottom small holes, inthe intermediate partition and coverl sheet larger holes, the latter being. covered by an accurately fitting cap provided with a handle. The lid hason its short end walls flaps having extensions bent at right angle, which naps engage in slots in the end walls and serve as supports for the lower part of the box inserted in the lid so that the bottom of the lower box part is situated at a certain distance from the bottom '3.0; of the lid. The flaps are provided with tabs and are constantly pulled against the end walls by elastic bands or the like, so that the extensions always project into the interior of the lid.
In this position figures provided with a foot .'pin can be inserted in the shafts formed by the registering holes so that the pins engage through the holes in the bottom of the lower portion and extend into the free intermediate space, Whereas the heads of the figures are situated under the 40." cover plate so that the lid can be placed on the box and hides the figures. By pulling the two iiaps by their tabs, the supporting extensions are moved outwards, release the bottom part which descends by gravity, comes into contact with the x' pins of the figures on the bottom of the lid, thereby causing the figures to lift their closing cap and to project a certain distance through the cover plate provided with the picture.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawing in which:-
Fig. 1 shows the game in top plan View. Fig. 2 is a part longitudinal section on a larger scale showing the box partly in the lid and sup- 65;, ported on the flap extensions.
Fig. 3 is a similar view to Fig. 2 showing the box completely in the lid.
Fig. 4 showsA on a larger scale a small portion: of Fig. 1.
l designates the lower part of the box with W bottom 2, intermediate partition 3 and cover plate7 4 provided with a picture. Registering holes. arev provided in the bottom, the intermediate partition and the cover plate. Thek holesin thev cover plate are designated by. 7 and canV be each closed. 65" bya cap 6 provided with a handle 5, whereas the holes in -the intermediate partition 3- are designatedl by 8 and those in the bottom by 9.v The holes '7 and 8 are of the same size whereas; the hole 9 is smaller than the holes 7 and 8. 7-0f` The holes '7V in the cover plate 4 are off-set and provided with noses 4a. Thecaps 6 arev correspondingly oir-set and provided with recesses: 6aA tting the noses 4a. The lid is removed? from the box and placed upside down with its: plate 75. 10 lying flat on` the table top. The part 1 of thevbox is then placed in the lidrancll is supportedl therein on bracket-like extensions- 1.1, which=are1 formed onrflaps 12 hingedly connectediby bands to the end walls of the lid, and extend into the Soi' interior of the lid through slots 13. The flaps 12 are drawn continually against the end walls of the lid by elastic bands 14. The extensions l1 can be pulled out of the slots by pulling tabs 15 projecting from the lower ends of the fiaps 12. 852v Fig. 1 shows the game in position for use. The game is played in the following manner: The players each receive a differently colored figure 17 made of wood, celluloid, composition or the like and provided with a foot pin 16. Each 901 player also receives a mark or badge of a color corresponding to that of this figure. As when playing hide-and-seek in the open, one of the players turns away from the game and counts up to a predetermined number. During this time the other players hide their figures in the shafts formed by the holes and cover the holes with the corresponding caps. The figures now are hidden in the box. Each figure 17 is supported in one 106 of the holes 8, its foot pin 16 extending through the corresponding hole 9 and resting on the plate 10 of the lid. The seeker then lifts one cap after the other until he finds one of the concealed figures, the number of caps lifted from empty shafts being noted as faults and the person to whom the found figure belongs then becomes the. y seeker. The game may be made particularly interesting by the seeker indicating a few points at which the persons whose figures hidden and 1mA found at these points receive higher" penalty marks.
When a iigure has been found, the game is iinished and it is very amusing when, as the part 1 descends, all the figures push open their caps and become visible, this being eiected by pulling the two tabs 15. The figures are removed from the shafts which are then again closed by their caps and the part l is raised so that the game can commence afresh.
I claim:-
