With the above more important objects in View, the invention consists essentially in the arrangement and construction of parts hereinafter more particularly described, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which:-

In the drawing like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
The clamp is utilized for connecting the customary terminal or post 1 of a storage battery will 2 to the electrical cable 3, such parts being as used on automobiles and other electrically equipped devices.
The clamp comprises a body member 4 arm bodying a split sleeve 5, a stationary jaw 6 extending substantially at right angles from the sleeve and an anchoring reinforcing web '7 carried by the sleeve in a position opposing the base of the stationary jaw. The inner face of the stationary jaw is rounded as indicated at 6' to engage one side of the post and the free end of the jaw is provided with a pair of extending lugs 8 and 9 providing a bolt slot 10 there between and adjacent the bases of the lugs, I have formed a shoulder 11 to engage the head of the bolt to prevent the same from turning.
The body of the clamp is permanently fastened to the end of the cable 3, the cable being entered in the split sleeve and securely fastened thereto in the well known manner as by soldering or brazing to insure of a good permanent electrical contact. The web '7 rises centrally from a flattened face 12 formed on the side of the sleeve carrying the jaw, the flat face being formed by building up the sleeve at such side.
A demountable jaw 13 is also provided, this jaw having the outer end thereof provided with extending lugs 14 and 15 providing a bolt slot 16 therebetween and the outer faces of the lugs are built up to provide a fiat surface 17 against which a nut can be tightened. The inner face of the jaw 13 is rounded as indicated at 13 to engage. one side of the terminal or post 1 and the inner curved end thereof is slotted as indicated at 18 to receive the web. A bolt 19 is supplied which passes through the bolt slots and has the head 20 thereof engaging the shoulder 11 and the nut 21 thereof screwing up against the face 17. Obviously the jaw 13 can be rocked on the face 12 i and while anchored by the web to accommodate varying sizes of posts. Here I might mention that the inner faces of the jaws are also slightly tapered to accommodate the customary tapering post used on batteries.
When the device is to be used, it is placed over the post the usual manner and pressed down into a position where it receives the post. One then tightens up the nut and as the nut tightens, the movable jaw is drawn tightly over towards the stationary jaw so that the post is eifectively gripped between the jaws and this without requiring the flexing of either jaw. During the tightening of the nut, the engagement of the head 20 with the shoulder 11 prevents the rotation of the bolt.
Obviously with this type of clamp, there is no possibility of breaking the jaws as occurs under existing conditions where integrally formed jaws are used and my type of clamp permits not only of the easy and quick removal of the clamp from the post but also of the easy cleaning of the inner face of the clamp as and when desired to insure of a positive electrical contact.
What I claim as my invention is:-
1. A battery terminal clamp comprising a tubular, cable receiving, body member having one side thereof provided with a flattened face and with a web extending longitudinally of th. member centrally oi said flattened face, a stationary jaw extending at right angles from one end of the body member and located at the side thereof carrying the web, the jaw having the inner side thereof curved to engage with one side of the terminal and the base thereof clear of the adjacent end of the web, a clamping jaw curved to engage the other side of the terminal and having one end thereof curved and slotted, the slot receiving the web and the curved end riding the fiat face of the tubular member and an adjusting bolt connecting the outer ends of the jaws, said outer ends of the jaws being cross slotted to receive the bolt.
2. A battery terminal clamp comprising a tuterminal and the base thereof clear of the adj'a-- cent end of the web, a clamping jaw curved to engage the other side of the terminal and having one end thereof curved and slotted, the slot receiving the web and the curved end riding the flat face of tubular member and clamp means carried by said jaws to cause same to engage the terminal.
