This application is a division of my applica her or other suitable material and is mounted tion Serial No. 228,729, filed October 26, 1927. on the plate 11 over the openings 14. The form This invention relates to machines for printpreferably comprises a strip 15 of rubber having ing letters and the like and its object is to prothe printing characters 16 embossed thereon.

A the roll. The wall of the roll is preferably flatfiat spring 7 is fastened at one end by a screw 8 tened on its outside face at 18, 18 and those 35 or other suitable fastening device to the roll and flattened portions extend across the roll as chords 90 its other end projects across an opening 9 in the 0f the circle thereof and merge with the peroll and carries a screw 10 or other suitable fasriphery so that the screws 8 and -10 which hold tening device which projects through said openthe ends of the signature form plate 11 are out ing. The opening in one end portion easily and quickly mounted on the roll in a 195 has an extension 13 for a purpose hereafter deprinting machine without requiring the removal scribed. The plate is provided with openings 14 of any parts of the machine. This makes it posbetween its end portions and these openings are sible to change the signature form frequently, conveniently made in the form of elongated parif desired, without materially interrupting the opallel slots. The signature form is made of ruberation or limiting the capacity of the machine. 1
Also, new signature forms may be supplied as frequently as may be required to replace worn or damaged forms and secure the best impression results. I have shown the invention adapted for use in the machine of my original application but it may be adapted for and embodied in other machines and I do not restrict it to this particular machine but reserve the right to" adapt it for and embody it in any printing machine in which it may be used and to make changes in the form, construction and arrangement of parts within the scope of the following claims.
