It is desirable that such tickets be dated and that one ticket only shallbe issued for each operation of the machine. i

One of the objects of the invention is to pro 7 l vide a ticket issuing machine of the character specified that is simple in construction and is so constructed and arranged that the feeding mechanism is positively controlledin a manner to prevent the'issuance-of more than one ticket for each operation of the machine.
Another object of the invention is toprovide a simple machinefof the character specified that will stamp each ticket as it isissued with a date, number or other information. 7
Further objects of the invention-will appear from the following specification taken'in connection with the drawings which form a part of this application, andin which Fig. 1 is a vertical sectional elevation of the "25 machine constructed .in accordance with the in furthermore, having meansfor stamping a date or other desired information'on the ticket issued.

The issuance of a ticket from the machine is controlled'by a shaft S having fixed thereon cams 13, 14 and 15. The rotation of the shaft is him it'ed by'a fixed pin which is disposed in a notch 21 in the cam 15.
In operating the machine theshaft S is oscillated by a crank 22 fixed to one end of the shaft u and having a crank handle 23 thereon. The ,66
shaft is actuated inaclockwise direction view-, ingFig. 1 to feed the tickets and'is returned to its initial position by 'means of a spring 25secured at one end 26 'to the shaft and having its 7 opposite end 27 fixed against movement; 7 65 The tickets are preferably made in'the form shownin Fig. 4 and as shown are provided with a plurality of central openings or' holes 28 between successive tickets in a strip. The ticket strip is, fed by a feed wheel 30 "[0 having-a plurality ofperipherally-disposed pins 31 arranged to enter the openings28 of the strip. The feed wheel 30 is fixed on a shaft32'to which is also secured a disk 33 having a plurality of notches 34 in the periphery thereof. When the feeding mechanism is at rest one of the notches 34 is engaged by a pawl 35'which is mounted on-a fixed pivot 36 and is controlled by a link 37 normally actuated in an upward direction by a spring 38. The cam 13 has a pin '40 go projecting laterally therefrom and arranged to engage the upper end of the link 3'7 as the crank 22 and shaftS'are rotatedin'a clockwise direction viewing Fig; 1. The engagement of the pin 40 with the link 37 will depress the pawl 35 and Q5 release the pawl from the notch 34. The operation or rotation of'the feed wheel is accomplished by means of the following mechanism; A rack is slidably mounted on a frame 46 in themachine and has at its lower end rack 9 teeth 47 which, engage'teeth48 on'ja quadrant which is carried by or formed on an arm 49 rotatably mounted onthe shaft 32. The arm 49 has pivotally mounted on itsouterend a pawl 50 having a tooth 51- arranged to engage one of the notches 34 anda tail 52 on the opposite end thereon The pawl is actuated, in a direction to enter. the notchbymeans of'aspring 53i The rackbar 45 has a'roller 55 at its upper end which engages 'the'cam 13. As the arm 22 0 is moved in a clockwise ,directionthe cam 13 will depress'the roller 55 and rack bar 45, thus causf ing the arm 49 to be swung in a clockwise direction. Since the pawl 50 engages one of the notches 34 inthe disk'33 the disk will also be rotated ina'clockwise direction and being fixed tothe shaft 32 will cause-the shaft and the feed whe'e1'30to rotate in' a direction to feed the ticket .strip. ,A spring 56 engages the rack bar45and' actuatesthe barupwardly.
After one length of ticket has been fed during one feeding movement of the arm 22 the pawl will snap into the next notch succeeding the one from which it was released and will positively prevent further rotation of, the feed wheel.
At the same time the pawl will be released from the notch it has engaged during the feeding movement and will be returned to the position shown in Fig. 1 by the action of the spring 56 on the rack bar 45. This is accomplished in the following manner; When the pawl 50 and arm 49 have completed their feeding movement these parts will be positioned in the location shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1. It will be noticed that the'tail 52 of the pawl is disposed beneath a lug 60 on the lower end of a bar 61 which is slidably mounted on a pin-62, the pin being disposed in a slot/ 63 formedin the bar. The bar 61 is also mounted between stops or rollers 64 and can have a limited pivoted movement about the pin 62. A spring 66. holds the bar 61 elevated.
v The cam 13 has a tail which is adapted to engage a lug '71 on the upper end of the arm 61. When the pawl 50 has completed its feeding movement-the tail 51 of the pawl will be disposed beneath the lug 60 on the arm 61. Upon the completion of the feeding movement of the shaft S the tail 70'of the cam 13 will swing the arm 61 about its pivot 62 until the tail 70 is disposed above the lug 71. Upon the-release of the arm 22 the spring25 will return the arm and shaft to their initial position and this movement will cause the tail 70 to depress the arm 61 and at the'same time the lug 60 will release the pawl from the notch 34 and permit the arm 49 and pawl to return to the position shown in full lines in Fig. 1. I
Means is provided for depressing a stamp roller on a ticket after the ticket has been fed from the machine and for impressing or printing thereon a date or other desired information.
In Fig. 1 there is shown a dating stamp D of any well known construction having a roller '75. The dating stamp has a lug 76 ex'tendingrearwardly therefromand positioned for engagement by one end 77 of a lever arm 78 which'is mounted on a fixed pivot 79 and carries intermediate its ends a roller 80. Theroller 80 is operated by the cam 14 to depress the lever and stamp after each ticket has been fed from the machine to' the table 11.
Means is also provided for severing the ticket from thestrip after it has been fed. This means comprises a stationary knife blade '81 and a pair of pivoted knives' 82, and 83. The'knives 82 and 83 areengaged by links 84 having slots 85in the upper end thereof. A lever '86 has an outer re duced end 87 positioned in each of the slots 85.
I The rear ends 88 of the levers 86 are positioned in i the path of pins 90 formed on the cams 13 and 15. As these pins engage the levers 86 the knives 82 and 83 will be elevated, thus severing a ticket from the strip. 7 I
The ticket wheel 30 has. secured thereto a gear which is connected by gears 96 and 97 to a counter C which recordsthe number of tickets issued from the machine. 7
From the foregoing description it will be seen that a simple, practical and efficient machine has been designed for feeding tickets one at a time from a ticket issuing machine and for positively preventing more than one ticket from being withdrawn for each operation of the machine. The machine, furthermore, includes a stamp for stamping on each ticket a date or other desired information.
Although one specific embodimentof the invention has been particularly shown and described, it will be understood that the invention is capable of modification and that changes in the construction and in the arrangement of the various cooperating parts may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention, as'expressed in the following claims.
Whatl claim is:
1. A ticket issuing and stamping machine comprising manually operable rotatable means for feeding a strip of tickets one ticket length for each operation thereof, means for positively controlling said feeding means to' limit the rotating feeding movement thereof to one length of ticket for one operation of said manual means, a printing device, means for operating the printing device after the'ticket has been fed, and means for severing the ticket from the strip.

A ticket issuingiv and f stamping machine comprising a manuallyoperable feed wheelfor feeding a strip of ticketsone ticket length for each operation thereof, pawl means forposiively controlling said feeding wheel to limit the feedingmovement thereof to one length of, ticket for one operation of said manual means, .a print: ing device, means for operating the printingdevice after the ticket has been fed, and means for severing the. ticket from'the strip. v
3. A ticket issuing and stamping machine comprising manually operable means for feeding a'strip of tickets one ticket length for each operation thereof, said means including a feed wheel, a disk connected thereto and movable therewith and having a plurality of ,notches, a feed pawl movable relative to the disk and'engageable successively withsaidnotchesfa looking pawl engageable with said notches, means controlled by said manually operable feeding means for releasing the locking pawl, means controlled by said feeding means for moving the feed pawl through a predetermined arc tocause the feed wheelto feed the strip one ticket length, means for releasing the feeding pawlvand returning said pawl to its initial position after the strip has been fed, e

A ticket issuing and stamping machine comprising manually operable means for 'feeding a strip of. tickets onetieket length, for each operation thereof, said feeding mechanism comprising a feed wheel, a notched disk connected thereto, a'pawl engageable with the notches in the disk, means for moving said pawl through an arcuate path including a rack and pinion and a cam for operating the rack, said cam being rotated by. the manually operable feed means, and cam controlled means for. releasing the feed pawl from a notch,upon the completion-of the feeding. movement, permitting the pawl to return to its initial position.
