IMPROVEMENT IN WRINGERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 193,688, dated July 31, 1877; application filed August '28, 1876.
' wringer and its frame-work, so that part of the said frame-work shall serve as standards, to support a vat for water to be used in washing, which is attached solidly thereto, and
also in the arrangement of the operate said wringer.
The device is shown in the accompanying drawings, as follows:
Figure l is an end-view elevation, and Fig. 2 is a side-view elevation.
The parts of the device are as follows: A is the box or vat, which serves as a tub, in which the washing is done. This is supported on legs B B, which, at the end at which the wringer is used, are so extended as to serve as part of the frame-work of the wringing departs which vice-that is, they form the uprights of the Wringer. This arrangement gives strength to the frame and to the whole device, and enables me to better connect and use the treadle or tension devices.
The parts of the wringer are as follows: J J are the expressing-rollers, which are constructed in the usual manner, and are operated as usual. The tension of these rollers is obtained by the levers Q R, which are connected together and to a yoke, S, by links q r. The yoke S is formed of a bar and links 8 s, which loop over the upper roller.
The levers are operated by a treadle, P, or by a hand-lever, O, as may be desired; or both methods may be used on the same machine, which will often be found convenient, for when the hand-lever is used it can be retained depressed at any point by the ratchet N, and when any extra pressure is wanted it can be given by the foot-lever.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is as follows:
1. The combination, in a wringing-machine, of the uprights formed of the legs B B of the vat A, yoke and links S s s, levers Q R, and links g r, and lever O or P, substantially as shown and described.
2. The combination, in a wringing-machine, ofrollers J J, yoke and links S s s, levers R and links (1 1', and levers O or P, substa tially as set forth.
