Description

E. SCHULGASSER NECKTIE File d Jan. 26, 1935 Patented ch 31, 1933 TENT QFFICE 2 Claims.
This invention relates to improvements in neckwear and particularly neckties.
Its principal object is to provide a necktie which is so made and designed as to prevent 5 slippage and misplacement of its lining, thereby always keeping the tie smooth and reducing wrinkling and knot-slippage to a minimum.
Another object of the invention is to provide simple, inexpensive and readily applied means for securely maintaining the various thicknesses of the tie layers, including the lining or padding, in a firm, smooth non-slipping relation and at the same time enhance the ornamental appearance of the tie. In the accompanying drawing:Figure l is a face view of a tie made in accordance with my invention. Figure 2 is a fragmentary elevation of the rear face of the tie. Figure 3 is an enlarged cross section taken on line 3-3, Figure 1.
Similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views. In the drawing, I have shown my invention in connection with a four-in-hand type of necktie, the numeral 10 indicating the front side or face of the tie, 11 its rear side or back, and 12 the usual lining strip or padding disposed between the front and back sides of the tie, which last-named portions are, by preferance, made in one piece.
For the purpose of firmly securing the lining stitching 13 on the field thereof which penetrates both the front and rearfaces of the tie as well as the lining and extends practically over the entire surface of the tie in the manner shown in Figure l. The design of the embroidery on the tie may be varied to suit the tastes of the trade although it is preferable that it embody a bordering portion which extends around the marginal edge of the tie and which prevents its curling up at the edges. By this construction, they various layers of material forming the tie are firmly and effectually held to maintain the same in a smooth flat condition free from objectionable wrinkles and danger of slippage of the lining is positively prevented. Furthermore, ties made up in this fashion present a very unique and neat appearance and they are easy to wash, clean and press.
I claim as my invention:
1. A necktie, comprising front and rear portions made of one piece and having a lining strip therebetween, and embroidery stitching extending throughout the field of said portions and said lining strip, said embroidery stitching being exposed to view when the necktie is tied. s0
2. A necktie, comprising front and rear portions made of one piece and having a lining strip therebetween, and embroidery stitching extending around the marginal edge of the tie and over the overall area enclosed thereby to be exposed to view when the tie is worn, said stitching penetrating the tie-portions and the lining strip to firmly secure said parts together and prevent relative slippage of the lining strip.
