1 Claim.

The object of thel invention is to provide a means by which potatoes may be easily and quickly cut lengthwise into square strips particularly suited for cooking in the style known as French fried.

One form of the invention, hereinafter referred to as the cutter, is shown in the accompanying illustration in which Fig. 1 is aplan view of the cutter; Fig. 2 a side view with a part of one of the sides removed; and Fig. 3 a cross section at the bevelled end `of cutter bed piece showing face of follower guard, hereinafter referred to as the guard, in its extreme forward position with slotted end of guard bed piece engaging short knives.

The invention consists of a bed piece 1, Fig. Y1, on one end of which a handle is formed as shown, and the upper margin of the opposite end is bevelled as shown in Fig. 3. To bed piece 1 the

Metal strip 5 is attached to cross bar 6 and bent into the form shown in Fig. 3, thus holding guard against the transverse cutting edge of plate 3.
