This is rendered difficult vbecause of the nature of the material used and because the material must be poured in a hot or molten condition. Furthermore, it is difficult to direct the material into the cracks or crevices to be filled.
This invention has for its salient object to provide a device of the character described having means for directing the discharge nozzle and for guiding the material into the crack or .crevice being filled.
Another objectl of the inventionis to'provide a device of the character described with simple and effective means for properly positioning the 20 valve and for holding the discharge control valve open. Y
Further objects of the invention will appear from the following specification taken -in connection with the drawing which forms a part of this application, and in which Fig. 1 is a longitudinal sectional elevation of a device constructed in accordance with the invention;
Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional elevation taken substantially on line 2 2 and looking in the direction of the arrows;
Fig. 3 is a sectional elevation similar to Fig. 1, but partly broken away and showing the valve held in open position; and
Fig. 4 is a sectional elevation of the lower end of the receptacle and nozzle taken at right angles to Figs. 1 and 3.
The invention briefly described consists of a pouring pot or receptacle having a discharge nozzle at the lower end, a valve for controlling the passage of the material through the nozzle, means connected to the lower end of thereceptacle and extending downwardly and beneath the discharge end of the nozzle forr guiding the nozzle inthe drawing there is shown av longitudinally tapered receptacle having a boss 11 secured4 to the lower end thereof. Asleeve l2 extends upwardly'from the *boss`V and hasy a plurality of openings `13 therethrough;l The boss is provided With a valve seat 14y andwith a downwardly extending sleeve 1.5 in which is threaded a sleeve 16 which .inV turn has threaded Athereinto angex- 60v tension sleeve 17. The boss'and' the sleeves` form a dischargenozzle for the receptacle. re-
The discharge of the material from the ceptacle 10 through the nozzle is controlled by a valve 20- which isadapted to rest on the valve 65 seat 14 and close the outlet through the nozzle. A valverrod 21 is connected to the valve 20 and extends upwardly through a transverse bar 22 which is connected to aA bail 23 secured to the upper end of the receptacle. A handle 24 is 70 formed on the upper end of the rod 21 and a xed handle 25 is carried by the receptacle 10.
It is desirable to limit the pivotal or rotational movement of the valve rod 21v in the bar 22 since the valve 20 often nts the seat more closely in y75 one position than in another. Therefore, when it has been found by experiment in what position the valve fits on the seat most eiciently means is provided for limiting the rotational movement of the'rod and inthe form of the invention shown 80` this means consists of a rod which is secured to the rod 21 `at 31 and extends outwardly rand downwardly over one edge of the bar 22. The rod 30 has formed Ythereon or secured thereto a longitudinally curved cross member 32 having 35 ends 33 and 34 extending on opposite sides of therod 30. After the rod 21 has been raised to l open the valvevit is swung or rotated in onefdirec'-y tion or the other to position one of the ends 33 and-34 above the cross bar 22. The rod 21 can 9 0 then be released andwill be held in elevated position by one of the ends 33 and 34 which rests on the bar 22. The materialwill then be admitted to the sleeve 12 through the upper end thereof and` through the openings 13 and .will flow down- 95 vwardly through the discharge nozzle.
vvIn order to guide the nozzle along a crack or crevice or to guide the material into thecrack a guiding pin 40 is carried by a lug 4l formed onl the boss 1l. The pin 40 extends downwardly 1Q0 and laterally beneath the lower endrof the discharge nozzle, as shown at 42. The end 42 of the pin will be placed in the crack and will guide the nozzle along the crack and also as the material is discharged through the nozzle it will l0 5 strike'the pin and be guided thereby into the crack or crevice.
When the device is used the operator will grasp the bail 23 withV one hand and the handle 25 with the other. The ngers of the hand which 110 grasps the bail 23 can engage the handle 24 and lift the rod 2l and valve 20. The end 42 of the pin will be placed in the crack and will be drawn along the crack and after the rod 21,has been elevated it can be supported in elevated position by turning it to a limited extent until one of the ends 33 or 34 of the member 32 is disposed above the cross bar 22. c
Althoughone specific embodiment of the invention has been particularly shown and described, it will be understood that the invention is capable of modication and that changes in the construction and in the arrangement of the various cooperating parts may be made Without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention, as expressed in the following claims.
What I claim is:
1. A dispensing device comprising a receptacle having ardischarge nozzle at the bottoni thereof, and a rod carried by said receptacle and extending downwardly therefrom and laterally beneathI said nozzle'for guiding the nozzle and materialdischarged therethrough. y
