A tap for fluids which comprises in combination a bush adapted for securing the tap to a container, packing in said bush consisting of a series of annular disc elements of flexible material sealed at their peripheries within said bush and separated from one another by rings the internal diameter 'of which is greater than the internal diameter of the said elements, a tubular outlet member slidably mounted in a non-rotatable manner in said bush and extending through said packing and engaged frictionally around'its circumference by each of said disc elements, said outlet member being closed at its-outer end and provided with an outlet opening in the wall thereof which is covered by said bush when said outlet member is in the innermost position relatively to said bush, a valve carried by said outlet member and normally closing said outlet opening, means operable automatically to actuate said valve and open said outlet opening as the tubular member is withdrawn from the bush' only after the outlet opening has been moved beyond the outer end thereof and to close said CLIVE SELSEY PHILLIPS.
