This invention relatestomy prior U. S. Patent granted December 3, 1929, No. 1,738,099 which has for its purpose the cleaning of faller combs or gills which are used with all preparing ma- 5 chines for spinning, in accordance with a method wherein the cleaning means is inserted between a drawing roller and the fallers during dropping or disengagement thereof from the top to the lower slide in such manner that the dropping or T like movement of the individual faller brings both the said fallers and gills intocontact with the cleaning means, the latter being formed with a flexible member made of rubber preferably sup- I I ported by direct and free contact on the drawing rollers and being arranged in any suitable position between the gill-drawn ribbons or slivers and the horizontal plane which contains the axis of the said rollers.
The preferred embodiment according to my prior patent provides a cleaning means made of rubber in the shape of a tube depending freely from a stirrup pivotally mounted on the conductors and placed transversally along the draw- I ing rollers, such tube being compressed between each drawing roller and the faller when the latter drops so that after passing the same the cleaning means recovering to a certain extent its original shape due to the resiliency thereof is made to come into light contact with the gills or combs, full recovery of the original shape of the said cleaning means being attained when the faller is near reaching its lower path.
It has been ascertained from practical experience that it is not necessary for the rubber *cleaning member to come into contact with the drawing rollers and to be compressed between the latter and the faller during drop thereof, and that all that is requiredfor the purpose ofobtaining automatic and thorough cleaning is, that contact be secured with light pressure-which is never to be dispensed withbetween the. said member and the faller and its gills or combs.
Consequently and according to my invention, I the rubber cleaning member need no longer be in the shape of a tube, it may merely assume the shape of a blade or small plate, it need no longer be mounted movable, and may be mounted stationary provided always that it be fitted into the space included between the drawing rollers and the dropping faller, and between the ribbons drawn by the gills and the horizontal plane containing the axis of the said drawing rollers.
Owing to the above modifications, while like results are attained, and in some cases better results than with the appliance advanced formerly, a saving is effected in the cost of the appliancehere improved arising as much from the cost of the material whichis considerably reduced as from the method of mounting as compared with that of the movable fitting with hinged stirrup which demands accurate adjustment as Well as constant adjusting superintendence.
The object of my said invention consists therefore in embodiments of the invention set out according to the above new data and hereafter described and illustrated diagrammatically on the accompanying drawing, in which: a

On the drawing, 1 serves to designate the drawing. roller with its friction member 2, 3 designates the top pressure cylinder, 4 the metal piece named conductor which serves to guide the ribbon 5 fed from the drawing faller between rollers l and 3 for .the purpose of undergoing a last drawing operation before being led to doubling plate 6 in the state of sliver. v
7 designates the last faller. with its gills or combs 8 dropping from the higher on to the lower slide at '7 8 With regard to the rubber cleaning member, I this is constituted by a rubber blade, small plate or band 9. It is mounted stationarily so that one edge thereof may be made to contact with the fallers and gills as they drop for cleaning purposes, its operation being similar with that of a scraper.
The stationary mounting of this member 9 may be secured by using conductors 4, and in such case the lower edge thereof is then fitted in every way which makes it suitable to receive and maintain therein the edge of the rubber blade or band 9 which is opposite the cleaning edge designed to contact with the fallers to be cleaned.
To such effect and by way of example, a clamping stirrup 10 with arms 11 is fitted round each conductor 4 as shown on Fig. 2, the threaded ends 110 of arms 11 passing through lugs 12 and being fastened by nuts 13.
The edge of rubber band 9 is inserted between the lower edge of conductor 4 and the bar 10 of the stirrup which is then jammed against the edge of the conductor by means of nuts 13. Owing to this device, the width of blade 9 is easily set, through more or. less of it being inserted between the edge of the conductor and bar 10. For the purpose of securing more effectively the said blade 9, the edge of the conductor may be provided with a semi-circular groove wherein bar 10 may be partly lodged.
Concerning the constructionshown on Figs. 3 to 5, this is designed in accordance with the same constructional principle, but it shows this advantage that the cleaning member which consists of a rubber blade or scraper may be fitted or removed more easily and readily.
In order to attain such result, themetal piece named conductor is provided at its lower portion with a groove into which the cleaning blade or scraper fits removably.
With such object in view,the lower portion of piece 4 is provided with a groove 14 for instance of circular shape into which is slidably mounted blade or scraper 9, the top portion of the latter is in the shape of a bead 9' and fits in groove 14, blade 9 being adapted to pass through the slit-shape opening 14' of the said groove.
