Description
J. H. HoBSoN. l A GUIDE-PLLEYS Fon BAND-SAWS. y Ng, 192,6954 Patented July 3,1877.
V ff,
UNITED STATES PATENT OrTIc'E.
JOHN H. HOBSON, OF NEW CASTLE, INDIANA.
IMPROVEMENT IN GUIDE-PULLEVS FOR BAND-SAWS.
Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. [92,695, dated July 3, 1877; application filed June 22, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN H. HOBSQN, of New Castle, in the county of Henry and State ofIndiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in GuidePulleys for Band- Saws; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and t0 the letters of refer-A ence marked thereon, which form a'part of this specification. Y
My invention relates to band-saws; and it consists in the construction of a grooved pulley, forming a guide for the back, as Well as both sides, of the saw, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In the annexed drawings, which fully illustrate my invention, Figure 1 is a face view of the disk A. 'Fig. 2 is a front view of the disk B. Fig. 3 is a central vertical section of the two disks joined together, showing the position ofthe saw in dotted lines.
My improved guidepulley is composed of two circular disks, A and B, of any suitable diameter.
The disk A is formed with a hub, C, projecting on one side, and onV the same side of the disk is formed a raised circular shoulder, D, a suitable distance from the periphery and concentric therewith. This shoulder D forms the guide for the back ofthe saw.
The disk B is placed on the hub C and rests against the raised portion of the disk A.
When the parts are united itforms, as it were, one grooved pulley, and the saw being inserted therein, it acts as aV support both for the back and both sides of the saw at the same time.
"Ihe pulley, being mounted on a shaft or stud, rotates with the movement of the saw.
Having thus fully described my invention, l what I claim as new, and desire to secure byA Letters Patent, is-
The guide-pulley herein described, consisting of the disk or section A, with hub C and raised shoulder D, and the disk or section B,
fastened on the hub, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth. r
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.`
JOHN HOBSON.
