IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED COLLAR-BOX AND LAMP.

-Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 192,378, dated June 26, 1877; application filed May 31, 1877.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JULIUS LEVINE, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented, made, and applied to use a Gombined Collar-Box and Lamp; and that the following is a full, clear, and correct description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making part of this specification, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, in which- Figure 1 is a front view of my combined collar-box and lamp. Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the same.

In the drawing, like parts of the invention are pointed out by the same letters of reference.

The nature of the present invention consists in the construction, as more fully hereinafter set forth, of a combined collar-box and lamp.

The object'of the invention being to construct a combined collar-box and lamp, so that after the collars are exhausted from the box the box and cover may be utilized as a lamp.

To enable those skilled in the arts to make and use my invention I will describe the construction and operation of the same.

A shows the box, formed ofinetal and usually made circular in form, within which the collars are to be received. B is the cover of the same, formed in the usual manner, and placed over and resting upon the box A.

Uponhthe under side of the cover B, about centrally, is attached the oil-fount C, and the upper side of the cover B is provided with an opening, formed with a screw-thread upon its interior, with which engages the collar of the wick-tube D. A handle, E, may be secured upon one side of the box A.

Such being the construction, the operation will be readily understood. When used as a box to contain collars the same are placed in it, and the cover is placed over the box. After the collars have been exhausted or removed from the box, it may be utilized as a lamp by filling the oil-fount E with oil, supplying the wick-tube D with Wick, and using it as a lamp is ordinarily used.

It will thus be seen that the collar-box usually thrown away, when constructed as herein described, is made to perform a second or additional office.

Having now set forth my invention, what I claim as new is- In a combined collar-box and lamp the combination of the following elements, namely, a box, A, provided with a handle, E, and a cover, B, provided with an oil-fount, G, and wick-tube D, constructed and operating substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
