In accordance with this part-of my invention, the construction of my switch and its installation on the motor are simplified by using the motor terminal asone .'terminal of the switch and extending that terminal insulatedly through the motor frame for connection inside the motor to the field or armature winding or both. The switch terminal formin the other terminal of the insulatedly by the motor may be further simplified by providing a switch housing which is fastened to the motor 1 frame and not only carries the, switch termi-" nal but extends over the motor terminaL.

1 shows, partly in elevation and partly in section, the switch operated by a pull wire; Fig. 2 is a similar view showmg the switch operated by a push rod with the operating lever of the switch reversed for that purpose;
the armature or field winding, or both, being soldered or otherwise fastened inside the frame to the bottom of the terminal between the ears 2 of the cli 3. This motor terminal .has a top contact rmed by a copper nut 4 screwed on the shank 5 of the copper stud bolt and held from turning thereon by the lock washer 6. The switch terminal 7 extends, through the pressed-up metal switch housing 8 and is insulated therefrom as shown. Outside the housing the cable conw nector 9 is secured to theterminal for connection of the battery lead -10 and inside the houslng the conducting element or switch blade 11 of spring copper is-fastened to this 1 terminal so as to extend over the nut 4 of the motor terminal, the switch housing 8 being fastened to the motor frame at 12 and covering the motor terminal. Mounted on the pivot pin 13 which passes through cars 14 struck up fromthe housing, is'an operating lever 15 carrying-the rollers 16 of insulating material near its inner end and having a hole near its outer end.

It will now be obvious that-to close the switch for supplying current from the battery or other source to the starting motor, the operator merely pulls the knob 24 of Fig. l or pushes the knob 30 of Fig. 2, to the limit of its motion, wherebythe switch blade 11 is pressed by the rollers 16 into intimate contact with the top contact of the motor terminal and the circuit thereby completed. from the battery or other source to the motor. As a result of the bend at 31 in the switch blade, there is a slight but suldcient wiping action of the blade on the motor terminal, particularly in the arrangement with the pull wire, Suficient to keep the contacting surfaces clean. Upon releasing the knob, the spring tension in the switch blade 11 restores the parts to their normal or open position shown in the drawing.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is: i i
l. lln a motor switch, a pair of terminals; an element attached to one of said terminals; a reversible lever adapted to be pivotally mounted in either of two positions with respect to said element and adapted to more said element into engagement with said other terminal in one position when the end of said lever is pulled, and in the other position when the end of said lever is pushed.
2. la a motor switch, a pair of terminals a casing enclosing one of said terminals and insulatingly supporting the other terminal; a flexible element for completing a circuit between said terminals; means for flexing said flexible element including a lever and antifriction means connected with said lever and interposed between said casing and said lien ible element, and means including a ilenible wire for manipulating said flexible member to complete the circuit.
3.,lln combination, a switch comprising a housing; a resilient switch blade in said housing; means insulatingly supported on said housing and fixedly retaining said. switch blade; means for flexing said switch blade comprising a lever journalled upon said housng, the tension of said blade normally holdmg said means into engagement with said housing; and means including a flexible wire for manipulating said lever from a position remote to said switch.
d. lln combination, a switch comprising a housing; a resilient switch blade in said housing; means insulatingly supported on said housing and fixedly retaining said switch blade; said retaining means acting as a connecting terminal; means for flexing said switch blade comprising a lever journalled upon said, housing; a roller journalled in one end of said lever and adapted for rolling engagement with said switch blade, the tension of said blade normally holding said roller into engagement with said housing; and means includinga flexible wire for manipulating said lever.
5. n a motor switch, a casing; a terminal carried by said casing and insulated therefrom, said terminal having a portion proj ectingexteriorl of said casing; a resilient memmeans mounted upon said casing including a lever, and antitriction means comprising a roller of insulating material journalled upon said lever for engagement with said resilient member; a'manipulating means including a flexible wire for operating said lever from a position remote to said casing.
6. ln a device of the character disclosed. in combination, a switch casing; a terminal supported thereon and insulated therefrom; a spring switch blade carried by said terminal; a lever pivotally secured to said casing; a shaft forming a pivotal support for said lever having a plurality oil annular grooves; means for holding said shaft in position including portions of said casing adapted to project into said annular grooves; anti-*itriction rel ers carried by said lever for coo oration with said switch blade; and manipu ating means operatively connected to said lever.
