In the, practical operation of said plug, the insulated handles29, and 30, are simultaneously moved toward each other as far as they will go by a thumb and forefinger of one hand. This movement first actuates the cams 25, and 26, to engage the reverse acting spring jaws 9, and 10, elevating the latter a maximum distance against'the tensionof the spring 20, immediately after which said handles 29, and 30, collide with said jaws 9, and 10, moving the ribbed ends of the lat ter toward each other a maximum distance into the slots 35, and 36. The mechanism of said plug is now in position to be inserted in a socket as shown in Figs. 1, 3, 4i and S, and while in said position the tip or upper portion is inserted into the screw rim of any standard screw rim socket as far as it will go. Said handles 29, and'30 are then re- ,leased, which first permits the ribbed "or threaded ends of said jaws 9, and 10, to move outwardly by their. own spring tension into engagement with said screw rim, immediately after-which said spring 20, depresses said jaws 9, and 10, which forces said tip of said plug farther into the screw of said socket or until the center contact of the latter collides with and makes electrical contact with the center-contact 41, of said plug. Said handles 29, and 30, when released are moved outwardly or away from each other by said spring jaws 9, and 10, and the action of the latter on said cams 25, and 26.
