BED SPRING Filed Sept. 12, 1932 Inventur' B.'1LE.VIN5CIN Patented May 9, 1933 STATES PATEN''I BED SPRING Application led September 12, 1932, Serial N0. 632,841, and in Canada January 2, 1932.
My invention relates to improvements. in bed springs, and the object of the invention is to provide means for reinforcing the edge of the bed spring body so that it Will not 5 sag out of shape and yet be resiliently yieldable, and it consists essentially of the arrangement and construction of parts as hereinafter more particularly explained.
The drawing represents a plan vieu7 showl ing the edge portion of a bed spring body,
the supporting bars land my reinforcing construction for the edge of the spring body.
ln the drawing like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
1 and 2 indicate the supporting` parts of the spring body, 3 the edge portion of the spring body resiliently connected to the bars 1 and 2 by tension springs e and 5. 6 and 7 are reinforcing bands spaced apart and each comprising a plurality of parallel strands 6X and 7X which are secured together by a series of transverse clips such as indicated at 8,9,10
and 11.
The bands 6 and 7 formed by the strands 6K and 7x are tied or clipped together by transverse clips 12 and 13. The band 7 is connected to the spring body edge by means of clips 14 and 15 suitably spaced apart. The adjacent strands 6 and 7 of the bands 6 and 7 are drawn together intermediately between pairs of clips 9 and 10 and connected by a small clip or collar 16 thus tying the bands 6 and 7 together so that they act in unison, the ends ofthe bands being connected by tension springs 17 and 18 to the bars 1 and 2.
From this description it will be seen that I have devised a very strong reinforced edge construction for the bed springs which Will hold the edge of the bed spring firm so that it will always be held in shape and not permanently sag.
What lf claim as my invention is:
In a bed spring. the combination with the body thereof and the supporting end bars, of a bed spring edging comprising a pair of closely adjacent parallel bands each formed ot a plurality of strands` a clip connecting a strand on the margin of one of said bands O to the adjacent strand of the other of said bands, transversely aligned means bearing said clip and surrounding both bands for connecting said bands together, and means 'for connecting the ends of the bands to the supporting bars.
