This earth connection is usually made by means of a carbon brush which is pressed on to a rotating part yof the armature, similar to a slip ring, by means of a leaf or spiral spring, the carbon brush being guided' in a channel and the current being led ofi' from the carbon brush to earth by a cable.
With carbon brushes which are guided in a channel their free sliding in the said channel becomes gradually more and more restrained by they accumulationof carbon dust especially when the carbon dust mixes with moisture of condensation after the magneto has been in use for a long time.
This diiliculty has been overcome by the invention in that the carbon brush, 1s secured without any special guide on a leaf spring pressing it on to the rotating element. y
The spring'is secured to the casing member in a suitable manner and forms part of the current conductor to earth. By this arrangement troubles caused throughv the accumulation of carbon dust in the usual guides of the carbons are completely eliminated. In addition the cable and earthed securing screw for the same are dispensed.

The invention is more particularly described with reference to the accompanying drawing which illustrates by way of example one form of construction of the'invention and which shows in elevation, a magneto with the distributor disc, distributor gear wheel and the supporting plate with the cam ring and the interrupter removed.

l. Grounding means for an ignition magneto comprising a slip ring carried by the armature of said magneto, a brush cooperating with said.' ring, and a combined support and grounding element for said brush comprising a spring of'blade form in a single arc of curvature approximating the curvature of the slip ring secured at one end to the frame of said magneto and alone supporting said brush from said magneto frame in resilient engagement with said slipring. 2. Grounding means for an ignition magneto comprising a slip ring carried by the armature of said magneto, a leaf lspring secured at one end to the frame of said magneto and in electrical contact therewith, a carbon brush carried by the free .end of said spring and supported thereby in resilient engagement with said slipring, said leaf spring being so formed and so attached to the frame of the magneto as to alone secure said brush in pressure engagement with said slip ring and lprovide a conductor connection between said brush and the frame of the magneto. l In testimony whereof I have hereunto aliixed my signature.
