IMPROVEMENT IN FLOWS.-
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 190,500, dated May 8, 1877 application filed March 3, 1877.
cross-section of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of this invention is to furnish an improved center-draft plow which shall be'so constructed that there will be no friction upon the land-side, and that will enable the point to be made of steel.
The invention will first be described in connection with the drawing, and then pointed out in the claim.
A is the beam, the rear end of which is connected with the handles B. To the beamAisattached the upper end of the standard 0, which is made of wrought-iron, is curved forward into position to receive and support the mold-board D, the point E, and the landside F. The mold-board D is made of steel, and is securely connected with the mold-board handle B, the standard 0, the point E, and the land-side F. The point E is made of steel, in the general form of a triangle, and with the rear part of its upper edge'curved upward to adapt it to serve as a colter. This construction enables the point to be made of steel. The land-side edges of the mold-board D and point E project an inch and a half upon' the land-side of the beam to make the plow center-draft, and to relieve the land-side from friction. The land-side F is made of cast-steel, and in two parts. The lower part of the land-side F is attached to the land-side handle B and to the standard 0. The upper part of the landslide F extends up as high upon the standard 0 a: the mold-board D, and is made with a curve upward and outward, so that its forward edge may meet and coincide with the land-side edges of the mold-board D and point E. This construction relieves the land-side from friction, and. gives great strength and firmness to the plow.
Having thus described our invention, we
claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The land-side F, having its upper part extended upward upon the standard as high as the mold-board, and having an upward and outward curve, to cause its forward edge to coincide with the land-side edges of the moldboard D and concave point E, in combination with the said mold-board and point, and with the standard 0, substantially as herein shown and described.
