This invention relates vto-slidebuckles used for adjustingthe length of looped straps, webbing and the like, without penetrating the material, and, while the invention is adapted 5 to any bent wire Yform of :slide buckle; itis especiallyV adapted to that" class of yslide buckles made" of round vwire bent toform a pair of loops connected at one side and free -at the opposite-sides'andrhaving intermediate bar-structure portions integrally extending from the free sidesV of the loops to the connected side thereof. Y The objects of the invention are to provide a reversible slide buckle having strapgrip ing bar-structures iiattened in the plane o the buckle and also bar-structures having spaced projections extending out of the said plane; to provide a slide buckle of the pair of loops type of which the upper and lower bar-structures are flattened in the plane of the loops, and the intermediate bar-struc tures are provided with spacedvprojections extending in opposite directions out of said plane; to provide, means for securing together the free sides of such a pair of loops; and to provide means for securing thefwire ends of the intermediate bar-structure portions to the connected side of the loops. With these and other objects in view as may become apparent from the within disclosures; the invention consists not only ofthe particular form herein pointed ont and illustrated in the draw' ing, but readily admits of certain modifications within the scope of what hereinafter may be claimed.
While the character ofv the invention is broad in its application to the art, reference is here made to one illustrative device embodying the invention and illustrated bv the accompanying drawing in which the Figure 1. is an upright elevation of the device; the Figure 2 is a cross-section on the line 2-2 of the previous figure;

In use, a strap 17 may be threadedv into the slide buckle, as illustrated by the Figure 2, so that the flattened inner edges of the upper and lower bar- structures 4 and 5 and the spaced nubs 12 and 18 extend in different direc-tions into the path of the threaded strap 17 to grip the strap from different angles yto prevent the slide buckle sliding upon a taut strap threaded therethrough.
The modified form of the device, illustrated by the Figure 4f, materially differs from the preferred structure only in that the nubs 12 and 13 are provided by an intermediate bar-structure portion 8 and the upper andV lower horizontal bar- structure 4 and 5 are flattened substantially throughout, not only their entire length but their entire width as well, but both modified and preferred forms Y of the device are similar in that they each provide. gripping edges and nubs extending in different directions into the path of a strap threaded into the slide buckle, the modivfied form having engaging metal surfaces, as at 15 and 16 united in permanent intimateunion as in the preferred form.
