The present invention relates to new and usefulimprovements in windows and has for its primary object to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a window embodying a novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts whereby the upper and lower sashes are adapted for vertical sliding movement or swinging movement in a vertical plane for permitting greater ventilation through the Ywindow and to facilitate the ing parts throughout the several views, and

The lower portions of the side members l of the frame 1 are provided with openings in which are disposed removable closure, plates 22 through the medium of which access may be had to thecounterweights 18 when desired.
