Description

Nov. 8, 1932. a w, H E l,886,39$
GAME APPARATUS F5486. NOV. 7, 1930 awfm Fatenteol Nov. 8, 1932 UNITED gTATES GEORGE W. HAUSE, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA GAME arrenarus Application filed November .7, 1930. 7 Serial No. 493,932.
The principal objects of the present inven- 1011 are, first, to provide a single fairway or ball-path with a plurality of hazards or obstructions which may be brought upon the fairway in succession. Second, to provide a game apparatus which, when used as a miniature golf course, gives the effect of an 18 or other multiple hole course although there is but a single fairway or ball-path.
of hazards or obstructions which it presents.
The invention comprises the improvements to be presently described and finally claimed' and generally stated it may be said to consist of a fairway or ball-path having at one end a ball cup and affording at the other 7 end an opportunity to play balls along it and having intermediate of its ends a crosswise movable carrier adapted in its movement to present on the fairway or ball path diflerent hazards or obstructions.
The invention also comprises the improvements to be presently described and finally claimed. In the following description ref erence will be made to the accompanying a drawing forming part hereof and in which,
Figure 1 is a top or plan View of game apparatus embodying features of the invention.
Figure 2 is a transverse sectional View taken on the line 22 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a sectional View drawn to an enlarged scale and taken on the line 3-3 of Figure 1, and
Figure 4: is a side elevation of a portion of the apparatus.
In the drawing,
1 is a fairway or ball-path and it is shown as provided with an upstanding marginal rim 9.. At one end of the fairway or ballpath there is arranged acup 3 and the portion of the upstanding rim adjacent the cup is of curved form and need not be concentric with the cup. Balls are played from the opposite end of the fairway or ball-path from which the rim 2 is omitted and if desired use may be made of rubber or other tees 4 for that purpose. If desired, the'curved portion of the rim 2 may be lined with a rubber cushion 5 ,and the rim of the cup 3 may be also "covered with a rubber cushion 6. and fitted with a rubber hemisphere 7. 81is a carrier movable crosswise of the fairway or ball-path and it is arranged between the ends of the same. The'carrier 8 is provided with a number of hazards of which three, 9, l0 and 11, are shown but of which the number may be increased or diminished as desired. Intermittent motion is imparted tothe carrier 8 so that each of the hazards can be brought onto the fairway or ballpath and permitted to remain there as longas may be necessaryto suit the convenience of the players. .As shown, use'is made of square revolvable bodies 13 and 14c for moving the carrier through the action of pins 15 on the body and apertures 16 in the carrier for the reception of the pin. A crank-12, accessible to the player, is shown as a means for moving the carrier and there is a detent 17 which by taking into openings 18 in the part 14 holds the carrier at rest. The detent is released by handle 19 accessible to the players and operating throrwh a link 20.
It will be obvious to those s lzilled in the art that modifications may be made in details of construction and arrangement without departing from the spirit of the invention which is not limited to such matters or to matters of mere form or otherwise than the appended claims and the prior art may require.
I claim:
1. A game apparatus comprising a ballpath, an upstanding rim surrounding said ball-path, a cup adjacent one end of said ballpath, a carrier movable crosswise of said ballpath and forming a portion of the surface of said ball-path, and a plurality of hazards mounted on said carrier and movable thereon so as to be presented in succession on the ballpath.
2. A game apparatus comprising a ballpath, a carrier movable crosswise of the ballpath and forming a portion of the surface of the ball-path, and a plurality of hazards mounted on said carrier and movable to be presented in succession on the ball-path.
8. A game apparatus comprising a ballpath, a carrier movable crosswise of the ballpath and forming a portion of the surface of the ball-path, a plurality of hazards mounted upon said carrier so as to be presented in succession on said ball-path, and means acces sible at one end of the ball-path for moving said carrier. p y
4, A game apparatus comprising a ballpath, a carrier movable crosswise of the ball path, and forming a portion of the surface of said ball-path, a plurality of hazards mounted upon said carrier and movable so as to be presented in succession on said ball-path, means accessible at one end of the ball-path for moving said carrier, and second means ascessible from one end of the ball-path for positionin'g the carrier. p 7 A game apparatus comprising a ballpath having at one'end aplane position, a rim substantially surrounding said ball-path exc'eptat said. plane position, a cup located adjac'ent the opposite end of said ball-path from said.pla-neipositionftees of flexible material at said plane position, a carrier movable crosswise of the ball-path and forming a'portion of the surfaceof the ball-path, anda plurality of hazards mounted upon said carrier and movable so as to be presented in succession on the ball-path. p 1
