Description
M. FUBER DOORLOGK WITH MULTIPLE AC' IION SPRING NOV.
Filed April 8, 1951 Patented Nov. 1, 1932 NETE STTEZS rarest err MAXIMILIAN FI 'J'BER, 0F LUBEGK, GERMANY, ASSIGNOR TO WILHELM KRAKOW, OF
SGI'ILUTUP, NEAR LUBEGK, GERMANY V DOORLOCK wrrr-r morrrrtn ACTION SPRING Application filed April 8, 1931, Serial No.
This invention relates to a door lock, in which the latch bolt, roll back and bolt tumblers are acted upon by a common spring The bufier spring employed is so arranged that it exerts its full efi'ect on the roll back, whereas it exerts a weaker effect on the latch bolt and bolt tumblers.
The invention consists in that a lever acting against the latch bolt forms an extension of the bolt tumbler, the locking pin of the tumbler guided in the lock plate serving as pivot for the latch lever. At the point of transition between the bolt tumbler and the latch lever a plurality of supporting points are provided for the common spring so that it acts according to its distance from the pivot point of the latch lever either more strongly on the latch lever or on the bolt tumbler.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawing in which:
Fig. 1 shows the door lock in side elevation.
Fig. 2 shows the door lock with the lock plate removed.
Fig. 3 is a rear end View of the lock.
The door look, as in the ordinary furniture locks, is provided with a latch bolt a, having a longitudinal slot 6 for a guide pin a and adapted to be reversed for doors closing to the right and to theleft, aroll back 6 having a square hole cZ for the handle pin, the arm f of this roll back lying between the guide pin 0 and a bar a mounted on the shank of the latch bolt and a locking bolt 9 controlled by a slot guide 9'. A pin h is provided on the roll back e for securing the buifer spring 2', the other end of which is connected with the extension is of the bolt tumbler Z, formed as latch lever.
The lever 70 hearing against the end reinforcement of the latch bolt (Z is preferably made in one piece with the tumbler Z for the bolt g, or is rigidly connected thereto. The locking pin m, mounted in the tumbler Z and which lies alternately in the notches n, a of the bolt 9 and is guided in a slot 0 of the lock cover plate 10, serves at the same time as pivot point for the latch lever 712.
When the handle is turned, the spring 13 is 525,687, and in Germany April 30, 1930.
on the handle roll back 6, is arranged so that I it acts at an angle to the direction of movement of the two locking elements a and Z and-consequently engages at the point of transition between the tumbler and the latch lever. At this point of transition a plurality of supporting points 1- may be provided for the spring z so that it acts more strongly either on the latch lever or on the bolt tumbler Z according to its distance from the pivot m of the latch lever is.
When opening and closing the lock bolt 9, the key bit 9 moves in the lower recess of the bolt and bears against the lower edge. of the tumbler Z. As it continues to turn, the key bit q lifts the tumbler Z compressing the spring 2', so that the pin m moves upwards in the slot 0 until it is clear of the upper incision n or n in the bolt 9 (the position shown in dot-dash lines in Fig. 2) and then forces the bolt 9 forwards or backwards. During each movement of the tumbler Z the lever is slides upwards on the latch bolt a, without however altering its action on this latter.
I claim:
1. A door lock including a latch bolt, a roll 7 back for the latch bolt, a bolt tumbler having an extension forming a lever engaging the latch bolt, a locking bolt, and a locking pin for the locking bolt carried by the bolt tumbler and guided for sliding movement into and out of locking engagement with the look ing bolt, said pin forming a pivot for the bolt tumbler and lever.
2. A door lock including a latch bolt, a roll back for the latch bolt, a bolt tumbler having an extension forming a lever engaging the latch bolt, a locking bolt, a locking pin for the locking bolt carried by the bolt lOO tumbler and guided for sliding movement into and out of locking engagement with the locking bolt, said pin forming a pivot for the bolt tumbler and lever, and a single spring interposed between the tumbler and the roll back and urging the roll back to normal position with the latch bolt protracted and the tumbler into latch bolt protracting and locking bolt locking position.
3. A door lock including a latch bolt, a roll back for the latch bolt, a bolt tumbler having an extension forming a lever engaging the latch bolt, a locking bolt, a locking pin for the locking bolt carried by the bolt tumbler and guided for sliding movement into and out of locking engagement with the looking' bolt, said pin forming a pivot for the bolt tumbler and'lever, a single spring interposed between the tumbler and the roll back and urging the roll back to normal position with the latch bolt'protracte'd and the tumbler into latch bolt protracting and locking bolt locking position, and a series of lugs projecting from the tumbler'andforming means for selectively engaging the' spring with the tumbler.
- In the testimony whereof I aflix my signa- I ture.,
' MAXIMILIAN Fll'BER.
