This -invention relates to airway cleaning systems, in which a portable unit is provided with a floor tool and a suction pipe handle with means for interchangeably directing air currents through the floor tool or through the handle.

The objects of the invention are to provide convenient closeting and supporting means for a unit of such system, to provide for convenient use of the suction hose connected with the system when the unit is closeted, to support the system in an erect position outside the closet provided for it, to provide a convenient hanger for the suction hose when not in use and other objects as may appear in this specification and claims added thereto.

To these ends, the invention consists of the design, construction and arrangement of parts herein set forth and illustrated in the drawing, in which Figure 1 shows a side elevation of an airway cleaner and closeting standard as it would appear with the standard secured to a casement or wall.

Figure 2 is a front elevation of the standard unhooked from the wall and before the hose L is inserted in the upper bracket.

Figure 3 is a. view taken at right angles of that of Figure 1 and suggesting the position of the rollers in the lower bracket and the hose L and cleaner handle in the upper bracket.

Figure 4 is a view showing a substitute form in which a swinging door of the closet is substituted for the standard.

Figure 5 shows a blank stamping from which the upper bracket is formed.

Figure 6 shows a top or edge view of one of the assembling rings, two of which are used to secure the hose L to the bracket.

Figure 7 illustrates a hose L and part of the assembling means in section, showing the relation of parts when assembled.

Figure 8 illustrates the blank stamping from which the roller supporting bracket is formed.

Figure 9 is an edge view of the roller supporting bracket formed from the blank shown in Figure 8.

Referring to the drawing, 1 denotes part of a casement or wall from which extend hooks 2, 2, through slots 3, 3 of the standard composed of the arms 4 and 5 hinged together at 6.

To the upper arm of the standard, a flexible or yielding bracket 7 is attached by its shank 8, and said bracket has an eye or loop 9 adapted to receive an end 11 of the L member 10, which L members other end 11 is adapted to connect with a hose-pipe. A pair of rings 18, 13 are spaced on one end 11, of the L 10, with the eye 9 of the bracket 7 disposed between them, a flange14 of either ring rigidly secured to the L end, and 'a flange 15 of each ring has a I'otative sliding contact with the eye 9 of the bracket 7;

The suction pipehandle end 16, is adapted to connect operatively with the socket ring 12 which is rigidly secured to the lower end 11 of the L member 10, after the rings 13, 13, are placed on the end 11 with the eye 9 between them, and a hose pipe 17 is connectible to the other end 11, of the L member 10.

Whether the cleaner connect with a standard as shown, or with a closet door18, a resting bracket 19 having a hooked over lower portion to receive the roller support of the cleaner is used. This bracket 19 is preferably made of a stamping having lugs, 20, 20, and 21, 21, which bend over as guards, as shown in Figure 9. i

The utility of the device may be understood when it is considered that the cleaner is for sweeping purposes operated with the floor line represented by the dotted line of Figure 1, two pairs of rollers like 23 and 24 supporting it in adiagonal position. But the machine may be brought to an erect position by adjusting the roller bracket so as to bring the rollers 23 into position shown in dotted lines. The cleaner in this position, however, would not be stable when hose connected to the end of the handle is to be used. The combination with a suction cleaner having a handle with a passage therethrough and a suction inlet, a hose pipe, and a. standard for supporting said suctionclaner and said hose pipe, said standard having a bracket arm, a loop on said bracket arm, rotatable ring members carried by said loop, an L member engageable with one of said ring members for adjustably supporting the hose pipe, the other ring member engaging the upper end of the suction'h'andle, said ring members and L providing an air passage between the suction handle and said hose pipe.

A standard for supporting a suction cleaner having a suction handle and a hose connected to said suction handle, with its suction handle in upright position, said standard comprising upper and lower members hinged together at their meeting portion, means for suspending said hinged members from a wall, said upper member having a bracket I arm adapted-to sustain the suction handle in upright position, additional means on said bracket for adjustably holding the hose in operative relation to said suction handle, and a bracket on thelower member for supportingthe lower portion of said cleaner.

A supporting standard of the character described, comprising a pair of hingedmembers, slots adjacent opposite ends of each of said members, a bracket arm extending'from one of said membershavmg a'loop, rings carried by said loop and an L. member adjusta-bly carried by one of said rings, and a second bracket carried by the other of said hinged members, said bracket having a pair of hooks, substantially as described.
