UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE KARL KLEINERT, 0F STUTTGART, GERMANY, 'ASSIGNOR TO ROBERT BOSCH AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT, OF STUTTGART, GERMANY SIGNALING APPARATUS Application filed January 7, 1930, Serial No. 419,113, and in Germany August 7, 1929.
The present invention relates to signal-. ing apparatus intended more particularly for vehicles, in which a lamp is secured by means of a holder within an indicator arm.
When changing the lamp, this lamp-holder can be taken out through an opening in the indicator arm.
In order to be able to conveniently extract and secure the lamp-holder and at the same time have a simple closure for the open-' ing in the indicator arm, according to the invention the holder is constructed in the form of a yoke one end of which is detachably secured to the wall of the indicator arm and forms a cover for said opening.
' One form of construction is illustrated by way of example in the accompany-ing drawing.
Fig. 1 is a partial longitudinal section through the indicator arm.

Figure 3 is an enlarged fragmentary side elevation showing in greater detail a portion of the structure shown in Figure 1.
The arrow-shaped indicator arm a contains in its enlarged end a tubular lamp Z), which is heldby a resilient yoke 0. This can be inserted through an opening d in the frame of the indicator arm, and is supported at one end thereof against the frame wall opposite to the opening (Z. The other end of the yoke-shaped holder is made as a plate e which covers the opening (1. The lampholder is secured to the frame by a screw 7, and bears by means of a bent portion against the lower end of the opening (Z, a good seating for the lamp being provided by two small tongues g. The side of the lamp-holder turned towards the lamp 6 is provided with a mirror surface so that the light rays are thrown towards the end of the indicator turned away from the lamp. The front and back sides It and k of the arm a are made of transparent material, such as celluloid, to permit the light from lamp Z) to shine through the arm.
As shown in Figure 3, the yoke-shaped lamp holder consists of two strips 0 and i, 0 being of sheet-metal and 2' of insulating material. The strips 0 and i are connected together by means of a hollow rivet k, which insulated from the strip a by a washer Z of insulating material. The cable m is soldered to the rivet la. The latter is one of the lamp contacts and the strip 0 the other. When the signal is energized, the following circuit is closed:' Battery, cable m, rivet 7c, lamp 6, strip a, frame a, earth.
What I claim is:
1. Signaling apparatus comprising a hollow arm provided with'a transparent walland having an opening in one wall thereof for the insertion of a lamp, and a yokeshaped lamp holder, a tubular lamp supported between the arms of said holder, one arm a) of said holder being supported within the hollow arm whilst the other arm covers said opening.
2. Signaling apparatus comprising a ho1- low arm provided with a transparentwall -n and having an opening in one wall thereof for the insertion or'withdrawal of a lamp, and a resilient yoke shaped lamp holder, a tubular lamp' supported between the arms of said holder, one arm of said holder being supported on the inner surface of the wall opposite to that having the opening therein whilst the other arm of the holder covers said opening.
3. Signaling apparatuscomprising a hollow arm provided with a transparent wall and having an opening in one wall thereof for the insertion of a lamp, and a yokeshaped lamp holder, a tubular lamp supported between the arms of said holder, one arm of said holder being secured to the wall having the opening therein and covering the opening whilst the other arm of the holder is supported on the opposite wall.
4. Signaling apparatus. comprising a hollow arm provided with a transparent wall and having an opening in one wall therefor for the insertion of alamp, and a yokeshaped lamp holder, a tubular lamp supported between the arms of said holder, i one arm of said holder being secured to the wall having the opening therein and covering the openlng whilst the other arm of the holder bears freely against the opposite wall.
5. Signaling apparatus comprising a hol- 10 low arm provided with a transparent wall and having an opening in one wall thereof forthe insertion of a lamp, a yoke-shaped lamp holder, a tubular lamp supported between the arms of said holder, and means for supporting said holder within said hollow arm in a position to cover said opening by a portion of said holder.'

Signaling apparatus comprising a hol-, low arm provided with a transparent wall and having-an opening 1n one Wall thereof for the insertion of a lamp, a yoke-shaped lamp holder, a tubular lamp supported between the arms of said holder and means for supporting said holder within said hollow arm in such position that one arm of said holder covers said opening.
7 S1gnal1ng apparatus comprising a hollow arm provided with a transparent wall and having an opening in one wall thereof for the insertion of a lamp, a yoke-shaped lamp holder, a tubular lamp supported between the arms of said holder, and means for supporting said holder by one arm whereby said arm covers said opening, whilst the other arm of saidholder extends into said hollow arm.
8. Signaling apparatus comprising a hollow arm provided with two opposite trans 3g parent sides, a frame for said sides, a tubular lamp, the frame having an opening for the insertion of saidlamp, a yoke-shaped holder for said lamp, and means for supporting said holder within said arm in a position to cover said opening by a portion of said holder.
9. Signaling apparatus comprising a hollow arm provided with two opposite transparent sides, a frame for said sides, a tubular lamp,the framehaving an opening forthe insertion of said lamp, a yoke-shaped holder for said lamp, and means for supporting said holder on said frame by one arm whereby said arm covers said opening, while the other arm extends into said hollow arm.
10. Signaling apparatus comprising a hollow arm provided with two opposite transparent sides, a frame for said sides, a tubular lamp, the frame having an opening for said lamp, a resilient yoke-shaped holder for said lamp, the latter being held between the two arms of said holder, and means whereby the one arm of said holder is supported in said opening of said frame, whereby, he said one arm covers said opening,
while the other arm extends into said hollow 1 arm and bears freely against the inner side of said frame. I
