This invention relates to lug strap holders for looms and it has for its object to provide a novel lug strap holder which is simple and inexpensive to manufacture and which can be easily applied to or removed from the picker sticker without disturbing any of the parts of the loom.

Other objects of the invention are to provide an improved lug strap holder having various features of novelty which will be hereinafter set forth.

In the drawings 1 indicates a portion of the picker stick of a loom and 2 is a lug strap as sociated therewith and by which the stick is given its shuttle-picking motion.

My improved lug strap holder is in the form of a two-part member which is adapted to be clamped to the picker stick 1. The two parts of the holder are indicated at 3 and 4 respectively. These parts are separably hinged together at one end so that they can be readily opened away from each other to per' mit them to be applied to or removed from the picker stick and can also be readily disassembled or assembled. v

As herein shown the member 4 has an ear 5 at one end which is provided with an opening 6 through which passes a tongue 7 eX- tending from the part 3. This tongue is U- shaped as shown best in Fig. 5 and the engagement of the tongue in the aperture forms a sort of hinge connection between the two

3 and 4 which permits them to swing toward and from each other as indicated by the full and dotted line positions in F ig. 2.

During this forward movement of the picker stick the fiange'lO will have a rocking engagement with the under side of the lug strap. Such rocking engagement has the advantage that it does not subject the lug strap to any unnecessary wear or chafing.

3 Because of the two-part constructionof the lug strap holder and the manner in which the two parts are connected together, the installationof the holder on the picker stick or its removal therefrom is greatly facilitated. To install the holder it is only necessary to unscrew the nutfrom the clamping bolt 8 and then swing the two parts and e away from each other as shown by the dotted lines in Fig.

. 2. With the parts in this relative position the holder may be placed on the picker stick and then the two parts may be broughttogether into engagement withthe picker stick r and the clamping bolt inserted so that by few moments, and

If it is desired to adj ust the lug strap holder on the picker stick this can easily be done by backing off the clamping bolt 8 slightly to loosen the grip of the two parts 3 and a on the picker stick and then sliding the holder up or down the picker stick into the desired posi tion after which the screw will be again tightenerll to clamp the holder firmly to the picker stic V The holder can thus be not only easily applied to the picker stick but can also be ust as easily adjusted into any desired position on the picker stick.

A 111 strap holder comprising a twopa-rt mem er with the two parts thereof hinged together with a readily separable hinge connection and means to clamp said memberto the picker stick, each part of the member having at its upper edge a horizontallv-extending lug strap supporting flangeon which the lug' strap is adapted to rest, each flange extendingboth forwardly and rearwardly of the picker stick with the forward I and rear extensions bentdownwa'rdly slightly, said forward extension providing a support'for the lug strap when the picker stick is in its rearward position and the rearward extension supporting the bow'end of the lug strap when the picker stick is in its forward pos tion. i V 7 2-. A lug strap holder comprising a twop-art member, one part thereof. having an apertured ear and the other part having a curved lip inserted through the said aperture thereby providing a separable hinge connection between the parts, and means to clamp the two parts to a picker stick, each part having at its upper edge a lug strap supporting flange which extends laterally from the side of the picker stick and both forwardly and rearw-ardly of the picker stick, said forward extension providing a support for the lug straps when the pickerstick is in its rear= ward position and the rearward extension supporting the bow end of the lug strap when the picker stick is in its forward position.
