As the feed band 1 is preferably driven by suitable sprocket or like means from the said shaft 10, the speed of delivery of the articles to the slide 4, and the shaking movement of the latter maintain their proper relation and the shaft 10 may be driven at any desired speed to suit the circumstances and conditions under which the operation is taking place.
It will be understood that the number of articles fed to the slide 4 depends directly upon the speed of the conveyor band 1, and it is therefore important that the shaking or jolting motion imparted to theslide 4 be so controlled that the articles are caused to travel over the slide 4 with greater speed when a greater number of articles are fed to the slide by the conveyor 1, and this regulation of the speed of the conveyor 1 in. proportion to the olting or shaking of the slide 4 is an important feature of the present in-' vention.
Although the drawing and the above Specification disclose the best mode in which we have contemplated embodying our invention, we desire to be in no way limited to the de- ,tails of such disclosure, for in the further practical application of our invention many changes in form and construction may be made as circumstances require or experience suggests without departing. from the spirit of the invention within the scope of the appended claims.
What we claim is:
1. Apparatus for supplying articles in an upright position having feed mechanism of bands for conveying the articles, an inclined slide interposed between the bands, means for shaking the slide and means for adjusting the amplitude of the shaking movement.
2. Apparatus for the supply of articles in an upright position having feed mechanism of the character described comprising an endless conveyor band for supplying the articles, an inclined slide receiving the articles from said band, means for jolting'the slide, and means for varying the amplitude of the j0lting movement imparted to the slide.
