Description
Sept. 13, 1932- K. E. BEMIS LIQUID DISPENSER Filed July 14, 1931 Patented Sept. 13, 1932 KENNETH' E. BEMIS, OF GLENDALE; .CAzLIFORNIAi";
LIQUID msrnnsiin Application filed July 14,
This invention is a liquid dispenser, which is particularly adapted to the dispensing of cream, syrups and other liquids in measured quantities.
The main object of the invention is to provide a liquid dispenser which provides accurately measured quantities so long as any liquid remains in the receptacle.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device as outlined which is sanitary and readily cleaned and sterilized.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device as outlined which is economically constructed and which will not readily get out of order.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent as the following description is read on the drawing forming a part of this specification and in which similar reference characters are used to designate similar parts throughout the several views, of which Fig. 1 is a sectional transverse elevation through the invention;
Fig. 2 is a front elevation, lower part in section, of the invention;
Fig. 3 is a section taken on line 33 of Fig. 1.
The invention consists of a container 10, the bottom 11 of which is intermediately disposedand from which a well 12 is formed, the bottom 11 sloping from all directions to drain into the well 12. A cover 13 has an aperture provided at 14 in alignment with the'well 12, to slidably receive the skipway 15. y
The skipway 15 consists of a rectangular tubular element slidably fitting into the well 12 and through the aperture 14. A slot 16 formed in the rear wall permits draining of excess liquid from the skip 17. An opening 18 having inwardly extending lips 19 and an outwardly extending lip 20 causes the skip 17 to empty its measured quantity of liquid beyond the front face of the container 10, the lips 19 dumping the skip and preventing withdrawal through the top.
The skip 17 has a semi-circular bottom 21 to permit its tipping, as shown in dotted lines at 22, and has an extended lip 23 to carry the liquid clear of the skipway 15. An

Having describedan operative method of constructing and using the device it will be understood that variations in construction and arrangement of parts which are consistent with the appended claims may be resorted to without detracting from the spirit or scope of the invention or sacrificing any of the advantages thereof.
I claim 1. A dispensing device for liquids comprising a container having a skip well, a skipway of rectangular cross-section removably fitting in said well and extending upwardly above said container, a skip slidable in said skipway and provided with an upwardly extending lip and arcuate bottom, a lifter rod pivotally secured to said skip, a cover secured to said lifter rod, an aperture formed through the front'of s-aid skipway above said container and normally closed by said cover and an inwardly projecting lip at the upper foo end of said aperture adapted to cooperate with the lip on said skip for dumping said skip, said lip forming a spout when projected through said aperture.
2. A liquid dispensing device, in combination with a container, a rectangular skipway, a skip slidable in said skipway and having an upwardly extending lip and arcuate bottom, alifter rod pivo'tally secured to said skip, a cover secured to said lifter rod, an aperture formed in said skipway and having an inwardly projecting lip adapted to co operate with the lip on said skip for dumping said skip when said skip is raised, said cover normally covering said aperture.
3. Skip dumping means'for a pensing device comprising in combination with a skip having an upwardly extending lip, and lifting means for said skip, a skipwayh-aving an opening in the front wall thereof; an inwardly projectinglip at the upper edge ofsaid opening adapted to cooperate with the, lip on said skip whereby saidskip is deflected through said openin forming a spout when said skip is raised and a cover for said opening fixedly secured to said lifting means. y
In testimony whereof I have ELlllXQd. my signature.
