Description

BRACELET AND LORGNETTE HOLDER Filed NOV. 24, 1931 i4 I I INVENTOR 032 0/26/03 ATTORNEY Patented Aug. 30, 1932 warren, stares ROSE HANSKAT, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS BRACELET AND LORGNETTE HOLDER Application filed November 24, 1931. Serial No. 577,102.
This invention relates to bracelets and the general object of the invention is to provide a bracelet having attached thereto a lorgnette and more particularly to so form the bracelet that it constitutes a holder into which the lorgnette may be inserted when the lorgnette is out of use.
A still further object is to provide a bracelet carrying a spring actuated reel on which 7 11; a chain is wound, the chain being in turn attached to the lorgnette and in this connection to so form the bracelet that the lorgnette when out of use may be inserted into the space between the mount carried by the bracelet and 1.3 the wrist, if a mount is used.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a side elevation of a bracelet constructed in accordance with my invention 2;; Figure 2 is a top plan View thereof, the lorgnette being shown in dotted lines as be ing disposed beneath the mount carried by the bracelet.
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the bracelet in use.
Referring to the drawing, it will be seen that I have illustrated a bracelet designated generally 10, the bracelet being formed in two sections, one of the sections 11 being.
. hinged at 12 to the body of the bracelet and the other having a snap 13 of any suitable or ordinary construction whereby this section 11 is held closed to complete the bracelet. This permits the section 11 to be opened, the wrist inserted and then the bracelet snapped closed. Most bracelets have ornamental portions upon that portion of the bracelet which is to face the exterior of the wrist and this ornamental portion in Figure 1 is generall designated 14. As illustrated, this ornamental portion constitutes a mount for a watch 15, but I wish it to be distinctly understood that a jewel or other ornamental article might be disposed within this portion 14 which would constitute a mount for this jewel and I do not wish to be limited to the placing of a watch in this portion of the bracelet 'or even to the use of a particular mount.
The portion 14 of the bracelet which constitutes a mount for the watch 15, it will be noted, is deflected from the circle or ellipse formed by the body of the bracelet so that a space 16 is defined between the wrist of the wearer and the inner face of this ornamental portion 14. This ornamental portion 14 may, if desired, be extended longitudinally of the wearers wrist or at right angles to the plane of the bracelet itself, as shown in Figure I do not wish to be limited to this but by so extending this ornamental portion 14 transversely of the plane of the bracelet, the lorgnette shown in dotted lines in Figure 2 and designated 17 is entirely housed under the ornamental portion of the bracelet when inserted in the space 16.
Attached to the bracelet at any suitable point but shown as mounted upon the section 11 of the bracelet adjacent the hinge 12 is a small case or housing 18 within which is disposed a. spring actuated reel 19. A fine chain 20 is carried by this reel and this chain 20 is connected to the lorgnette. The reel case 18 and 19 does not in detail form part of my invention as this reel may be an ordinary form of spring actuated reel such as is used for supporting eye glasses and the like wherein a ratchet is used for the purpose of holding the reel from retractile movement, but which ratchet may be released by pulling such chain to permit the reel to wind up the chain. Obviously the specific form of reel forms no part of my invention. Obviously also I do not wish to be considered as being limited in any way to the character of the bracelet as illustrative as this illustration is purely indicative of one embodiment of my invention and the invention might be embodied in many different forms.
The obvious advantage of this construction is that the lorgnette cannot be lost, it being attached to the bracelet and that the chain of the lorgnette can be readily released to permit the chain to be withdrawn into the housing 18 and the lorgnette itself may be tucked into place in the space 16 where it will be hidden from view and where it cannot catch on articles of clothing or be in the way.
I claim 1. A bracelet having a portion thereof outwardly bulged on its inside face to form a space between theinside face of the bracelet 1 and the wrist of the wearer within which a lorgnette may be disposed, a lorgnette adapted to be inserted in said space, and aflexible connection connecting the lorgnette to the bracelet.
2. A bracelet having a'portion thereof outwardlybulged on its inside face to form a space between the inside face of the bracelet and the wrist of the wearer within which a lorgnette may be disposed, lorgnette adapt,- ed to be inserted in said spacaa'spring'reel mounted upon the bracelet,-
