NECKTI E HOLDER Filed Deo. 5. 1951 Patented Aug. 30, 1932 UNITED STATES PATENT c-FFICEX N LAWRENCE BAER, oF AT'rnEBono, MASSACHUSETTS, Assrenon To THE BAER au. c.
` WILDE COMPANY, OF ATTLEBORO, MASSACHUSETTS NECKTIE HOLDER Application filed` December 5, 1931. rSerial No. 579,170. K i 'i (alf This invention relates to 4neckt'ie holders 'and the primary object of the invention is to .provide a' holder which is `firmly and posi! tively held in position against accidental the plane of the outer face of the jaw 1,
since the sides 7 are spaced outwardly from I v the sides 2 of the jaw 1 it will be seen that Athe fabric will be pinched by the sides ofV @movement and to also provide means for the jaw 4 against the sides2 of vthe vjaw f1 easily and quickly releasing the holder from :its operative position thereby to enable like removal of the holder from the necktie and `shirt. v
Still further the inventionvaims to provide La necktie holder which has a movable jaw to- .gether with means for latching Vthe jaw in operative position and to further and more .specifically provide means which upon move? -ment to unlatched position simultaneously effects Vmovements of the jaw away from the .shirt bosom, thereby to enable the device to be -easily and quickly removed, and likewise applied. i v v Still further the invention aims to provide novel means for effectively clamping the holder against the shirtbosom and necktie.
'The invention has further and other objects which will be later setJ forth' and manifested inthe course of thet following description.;
In the drawing: Figure 1 is a bottom plan view 4of the invention;
AFigure 2 is a 'side elevation and Figure 3 and Figure 4 are sections on lines ,3Q-3 fand 4 4 of Figure 1.A
In proceeding in accordance with the pres? ent invention, a relatively stationary/gan' 1 isprovided which is formedV of a piece of wire which is doubled upon litself to provide sp'acedpara'llel sides 2, the ends of the wire .being curved inwardly and coiled to provide eyes 3,*'so that the jaw is of substantially J-shape in side elevation as shown in. Figure 2. .SAS herein shown the wire is preferably of lvthe flat type, although round or other shaped types can be employed as desired;
The movable jaw 4 is also formed of wire which' is doubled upon itself to form a loop having a'straight end upon which a roller 6 is journaled for free rotation, the roller preferably havinga corrugated'or roughened Vperiphery so as to more rmly grip the fabric. The sides 7 of the loop are curved downwardly so as to be disposed in substantially support the lever. In operation with the part-sin the position Vis swung to the dotted line position. of Fig- Vand will thus be more freely held in position'. Theend portions of the lwire of which the jaw 4 is formed are brought into abutting engagement with each other and are preferably welded together to form an inclined arm 8 which latter is turned upwardly and arm 8 and has a curved finger 12 secured to its inner end. For the purpose of latching the jaw 4 in operative position, alever 13 is provided which is of substantially Ssshape and has one end 14 formed to provide a finger grip while its opposite end is bifurcated` and' has a roller 15 journaled between the furcations.V The lever 13 is'formed with oppositely disposedpintles 16 which latter Aare received inthe eyes or knuckles 3 whereby to pivotally 4of 'Figure 2 it will.V be seen thatdue to the resilient nature of the materialv of which Vthe jaw 7 is formed, the roller v15 upon swinging lof lever 13 engages against the arm`8 and depresses and holds the jaw 4 in its-clamped position. To release the jaw"4 the lever 13 ure 2 wherein it will -be noted'that the-roller 15 riding upwardly on the slightly inclined arm 8 engaged the curved linger 12 and upon continued movement of the lever`18, `thev roller lthrough the finger 12, causes the l i jaw 4 toV be swung about its pivotklO away from the shirt bosom to the limit of its move'-V ment indicated in dotted lines, thereby enabling the holder to beeasily andquickly removed and likewise applied in position. l w 95 Itwill thus be seen thatfthe necktie Yand shirt bosom are iirmlygrippedand the necktie heldV against i accidentalnnovement, and
at the same time theholder against accidental movement.
