What is claimed is:
l; The combination with aretort body and a door therefor, provided with mating grooves or recesses,of wedge-shaped fastening means for securing the door operable in the grooves or recesses ofthe body and door, a cylinderfor each fastening element, and a piston in the cylinder and connected with the wedge-shaped fastening element at an intermediate point, the cylinders being adapted to receive a fluid medium to effect simultaneous operation of the fastening means.
2. The combination with a retort body and a door, of arcuate wedge-shaped fastening. means for the door, and a piston and cylinder constituting operating means for'sliding said fastening means radially across the joint between the body and the door.
3. The combination with a retort body and a door therefor, each having mating recesses,
of wedge-shaped fastening ,means slidable radially in the recesses across the joint formed between the body and door, and means for effecting simultaneous movement of the fastening means.
4. The combination with a retort body and a door therefor, of wedge-shaped radially movable fastening means engaging the body and door for drawing the door into closed position to assure and maintain a tight joint, and means for simultaneously operating the fastening means.
5. The combination with a retort body and V a door therefor, of arcuate radially movable fastening means of Wedge cross section carried by the body and movable into wedgeshaped recesses of the door for securing the door, and cooperating cylinders and pistons for operating the fastening means simul- I taneously.
6. The combination with a retort body and a door therefor, of wedge-shaped curved fastening means disposed in an annular series on the body around the door and movable radially into wedge-shaped recesses in the edge of the door for securing the door, cylinders mounted upon the body, and pistons in the cylinders connected with said fastening means.
7 The combination with a retort body and a door snugly fitted within the bod and having, an outer flange overlapping the tremity of the body, there being a V-joint; between said flange and the inner face of the door, of wedge-shaped fastening devices carried by the body and movable radially into recesses joint tight.
