PATENT JOSEPH COX, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN SLIDING STOVE-DOORS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 187,457, dated February 20, 1877; application tiled I January 26, 1877.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOSEPH 001:, of the city and county of Philadelphia,in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Sliding Stove-Doors, which improvements are fully set forth in the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
The object of my invention is to improve the mechanical forms and combinations of the castings required in the manufacture ofcastiron sliding doors andtheir frames-for stovebodies. These forms and combinations are distinctly shown in the accompanying draw in gs, forminga part of this specification.
Figurel showsin perspective the door-frame completeinonepieceofcasting,A. Fig.2sliows in perspective the door complete, also, in one piece of casting, D, and having an aperture, 9, for the removable stop B. Fig. 3 shows in perspective the finished article, comprising the frame A, door D, and stop B, duly combined for use. Fig. 4 is a horizontal section, taken centrally, of Fig. 3.
a and b are inwardly projecting raised flanges, shelving over the spaces a a a a. to
be occupied by the edges of the door at d. c
is a guide to the door, and 0 simply acoun terpart for ornament. b b show the form required for convenience in molding the frame A. e 6 show parts cut away below the points f f for convenience, also, in molding the door D. f f are guides to the door; t 'i, openings for mica lights. h. is a thumb-piece for operating the door. j is an aperture, through which a pin, it, is inserted to hold the removable stop B in its place.
It will be seen that the putting together of the castings, by which the frame A and door D are completed and made operative as a tinished article, consists, simply, in putting the removable stop B in place, and staying it with the pin it.
I claim 1. The door-frame A, provided with the inwardly-projecting raised flanges a b and guide 0, with the portions b I) cut away, as shown, in combination with the door D, substantially as and for the purpose herein set forth.
2. The door D, provided with the small raised outwardly-projecting flanges ff, with the portions 6 6 cut away, as shown, in combination with the frame A, substantially as and for the purpose herein set forth.
3. In combination, the frameA and door D, constructed as shown and described, for convenience in casting, and provided with the removable stop B, substautially as and for the purpose herein set forth.
' JOSEPH COX.
