This invention relates to toy vehicles and 'more particularly to the wheeled type having the body shaped in animation of an animal or fowl familiar to children.

An additional object of the invention consists of a pedal operated steering wheel for the toy.

An additional object of the invention contemplates the provision and arrangement of an operating mechanism for opening and closing the mouth of the figure comprising the body.

An additional object of the invention embodies an annunciator located for simultaneous operation with the opening and closing of the figures mouth through operation of the operating mechanism whereby the figure will appear to expel natural or life like sounds peculiar to the animal'or fowl imitated.

With the above and otherobjects in view, the invention further consists of the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claim.

Referring to the drawing in detail wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character 10 indicates generally the body of the figure toy which as shown is a representation of a goose or similar variety of fowl, preferably of hollow construction. A steering shaft 11 projecting through the body of the housing adjacent the base or juncture of association of th-egoose neck with the body has suitably arranged thereon a stop collar 12 abutting the upper and outer surface of the body to restrict downward motion of the steering shaft beyond a predetermined point.

A wear plate 13 of angular formation is disposed in the manner suggested in Figure 1 of the drawing whereby a flat surface is exposed to the yoke end 14 of a fork member 15. The innermost projecting end of the lower bill or beak section is provided with an olfset projection 32 telescopically associated with a compression spring 38 having its opposlte end sprung against the adjacent wall of the body whereby the two beak or bill sections of the head will be normally disposed in closed position.

A fulcrum lever 34, mounted within the neck of the figure, has one end disposed for overlapping sliding engagementwith that side of the lowermost movable bill or beak section 29 opposed to that of the spring33. An annunciator 35 of the bulb compressed type and designed to expel a sound similar to that of the honking, hissing or quacking of the particular fowl imitated, is located in the path of movement of the other end of the fulcrum lever '34. An operating shaft 36, having rigid connection with the fulcrum lever 34 at an ecccentric point in the'length thereof, projects outwardly through an opening in the neck of the body, forwardly and in advance of the steering shaft, and which terminates to provide a ball head or hand g ng portion 37.
