The object of this, my present'invention, is the'provision'of a dispensing cabinet'for' soft tissue in lavatories, 1n which the tissue is removed from the cabinet in sheets, each sheet, `prior to its removal 1being treated to an antiseptic deodorant which has medical property and which is delivered only toV the under face thereof so that the same will not Akimpregnate the hand of the user when the sheet is removed from the cabinet. s
A further object is the provision of a cab1' net for this purpose divi-ded into two compartments, one having a` liquid antiseptic deodorant therein, the otherV having rolls, one
containingv a roll of soft tissue, othersV providing guides for the roll and one ofthe last,
named rolls having a valve to establish a communication with the deodorant container or receptacle to deliver a quantity of deodoi ant onto the paper that Ytravels over the 'said of the following detailed description when read in connection with the accompanying drawings which form part of thef applica-v tion, with" the understanding, however, that 'the improvement 'is capable of extended application and is not confined to the exactA showingA of the drawings nor to the preclse construction described and, therefore, such changes and modications may be made therefrom as do not affect the spirit of theinvention nor exceed the scope thereof as expressed in the appended claims. In the drawings: 1 Figure 1 is a side elevation of the improvement. l Figure 2 is a sectional view approximately Y on the line2-e2 of Figure 3. l
Figure 3 is a vertical longitudinal sec# Vtional view through the improvement.
Figure 4 is a sectional view approximate-f ly on the. line 4-4 of Figure 2.
Figure-5 is a plan view. p y
Figure 6 is a detail elevation with parts in section to illustrate the brake and feed mechanism. f v
vThe cabinet 1 -is preferably constructed of metal or of some other water-proof material. TheV cab-inet is of a size to be conveniently' hung on the wall of a lavatory next to the toilet seat. The cabinet is divided by a vertie cal partition 2 into a compartment 3 for the liquid-antiseptic deodorant and a compart` ment 4 for the roll of soft tissue paper and the delivery rolls for the .said paper. The tis-y sue 5 is divided into'sheets by lines of spaced perforations 6. 1
The deodorant chamber or compartment 3 has' an inlet opening at the top thereof which is normally closed by a screw cap 7' and thev i partition 2, adjacent to the bottom thereof, is provided with an aperture 8 that affords an outlet port for the'liquid--deodorant so that the same can flow into the compartment 4'. The iiow of' the liquid is permitted only at determined intervals, the port 8 being closed by a disc 9 which is arranged in the compart-' ment 4 and frictionally contacts with the partition 2. The disc is provided with an aperture 10 which, when brought into register with the port18, permits of the flow of deodorant into the bottom of the compart' ment 4 `and onto a rubber roll 11 that is fixed on V'a shaft 12 to which the valve disc 9 is also fixed.
VAbove the roll llthere is another roll 13, and the compartment 4, in a line with the com tactin-g peripheries ofthe rolls 11 and13, hasitsface 'provided with an outlet opening for the sheets of tissue 6. The opening isfindicated by the numeral 14 and on 'the lower wall provided thereby there is an-outstanding shelf 15 that affords a guide for the sheets of tissue. Y
' To one side of the roll 13 there is fixed on a suitable shaft 16 (j ournaled inbearings in the compartment 4) a combined feed and tissue sheet breaking roll 17. The rollV 17 is of a less diameter than the rolls 11 and 13. Above the roll 13 there is removably ournaled in suitable bearings the shaft 18 that carries a roll, around which there is wound the soft tissue 5. One of the bearings for the shaft 18 is indicated for distinction by the numeral 19 and is movable through one side of the compartment 4 and the cylindrical body portion thereof is hollow and has arranged therein a spring 20 to Contact with one end of the shaft 18 to force the said shaft into the second bearing 21 therefor, the last named bearing being fixed on the partition 2.
On the shaft 16 for the roll 17, at one end of the roll there is iXed a tooth 22 that has an angle side. Fixed on one side of the roll 13 there is a disc-like member 23 provided with diametrically opposite teeth 24, respectively. Journaled for free movement on the shaft 25 for the said disc 13 there is an arm 26, and pivoted on this arm there is a dog 27 that is designed to engage with either of the teeth 24. The arm 26 has an offset handle portion 28 received through a semi-circular slot 29 in the outer side of the compartment 4. On the end of the arm 26 journaled on the shaft 25 there is secured or formed` a finger hold 30. The arm 26 is influenced bya spring 31 to bring the handle 28 against the outer end wall provided by the semi-circular slot 29.
The top of the compartment 4 is open or has an opening therethrough which is closed by a. flanged cover 32, andwhereby access to the compartment 4 may be obtained to arrange a fresh roll of tissue therein or to arrange the shafts of the rolls in the bearings therefor.
In operation the sheets of tissue are guided between the rolls 13 and 17 and over the roll 11 which is a feed roll for the antiseptic deodorant. The handle 28 when 'swung through the slot 29 will impart a turning movement to the roll 13 and a like movement to the roll 17 which frictionally engages with the roll 13. However, when the handle 28 is swung to the center of the slot 29, or is given one-fourthof a turn the dog 27, engaging withy one of the teeth 24 on the member 23 will swing the finger 3 to cause the same to contact with the tooth 22 to stop the movement of the tissue between these rolls topermit of the sheet of tissue arranged between the rolls 11 and 13 being severed fro-m the remainder of the tissue roll. Thus the roll 17 is in the nature of a breaker for the sheets of tissue. The linger' only momentarily engages with the tooth 22, the further swinging of the handle 28 causing the finger to ride off of the said tooth and thus permitting bothy of the drawings and in the full lines in Figure 6. The sheet of paper received through the opening 14 and arranged between the rolls 11 and 13 will have its under face treated with a deodorant but the top of the sheet may be grasped by the operator without contactwith the bottom face of the said sheet and thus without impregnating his fingers with the deodorant.
My invention, it will be seen, provides a more sanitary means of cleansing after bowel vmovement than mere toilet paper will give.
The sanitary tissue is treated with a deodorant that is antiseptic, soothing and healing, regardless of its frequent use. The healing purpose of the deodorant is for those afflicted with hemorrhoids, leaving a feeling of cleanliness that toilet paper cannot possibly do. A deodorant that will readily absorb itself in a tissue similar to that of Kotex. The deodorant has a very peculiar cleansing effect. The tissue should be somewhat larger than toilet paper and of a thickness adequate to adsorbing a suii'icient amount of the deodorant for practical use. Toilet paper could, of course, be used first, then two or three sheets of deodorized tissue. The use of the toilet paper is not really necessary, merely use more of the deodorized tissue. The tissue remains dry and untreated until it is pulled from the container. The deodorant is evenly spread upon it, upon the bottom side, The top of the tissue is dry where the hand comes in contact with it.
The roll 13, it will be noted, is in the nature of a feed roll, the roll 17 is in the nature of a presser and stop roll while the roll 11 constitutes the deodorant feed roll as well as a guide roll for the detached sheet of gauze-like tissue. All of the rolls are in frictional contact with each other. Y
Having described the invention, I claim:
