COMBINATION ADJUSTABLE FLOOR PLATE AND STOVE SUPPORT I Filed Feb. 4, 1929 \m ii,

Patented July 5, w 1932 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE A CHARLES L. GOHMANN, OF NEVV' ALBANY, INDIANA, ASSIGNOR T GOHMANN BROS. AND KAI-ILER COMPANY, OF NEW ALBANY, INDIANA, A CORPORATION OF INDIANA COMBINATION ADJUSTABLE FLOOR PLATE AND STOVE SUPPORT Application filed February 4, 1929.
This invention relates to a support for stove casters and has for its objects to provide simple, efiicient, economical and convenient means for leveling the stove; for preventing the stove from shifting, and acting as a foot for the stove casing.
The invention consists in a combination adjustable floor plate and stove support having cam adjusting means associated therewith to receive a stove caster.
The invention further consists in the construction, combination, location and arrange ment of parts, as herein set forth and claimed.
In the drawing:
Fig. 1 is a side elevation of the invention shown in connection with a stove corner cover plate;
Fig. 2 is a plan view of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a vertical section taken on a plane corresponding to line 33 of Fig. 2;
Fig. 4- is aperspective view of the combina tion adjustable floor plate and stove support; and
Fig. 5 is a rear elevation of the invention shown in its extreme raised position.
In the embodiment of my invention as illustrated and which shows a preferred construction I provide a combination adjustable floor plate and stove support 1 for stove casters and the like comprising base 2, caster guide posts 3 and dished cam 4, preferably having raised center l to form a circular track for the caster wheel 10. Said cam ft is mounted upon the rear part 5 of base 2 and is held against separation therefrom by screw 6, the latter being screwed into cam 4 and slidably mounted in hole 7 in rear part 5, as clearly shown in Fig. 3. Inclined stepped surface 8 of rear or bottom part 5 is adapted to slidably receive a corresponding stepped face or surface 9 of dished cam l. Caster 10 is provided with shank 11, which shank, in this case, is adapted to be rotatably r received by socket 12 in stove frame 13.
adapted to be held securely against the outer edges 15 of frame 13 by screw 16, .as clearly shown in Fig. 3. If desired, said cover plate may be provided with inwardly extended lugs 17 for the purpose of holding the stove casing 18 in position upon frame 15.
The operation of this invention is as follows:
Assume that it is desired to mount a stove (having a set of casters, such as 10) upon my novel combination adjustable floor plate and stove support: To do this, simply raise a corner of the stove and place one of the casters 10 within the hollowed out or dished portion of cam 4 and between the caster guide posts 3. Then place one of the combination adjustable floor plates under each of the remaining casters, as just described, and if the stove has a tendency to rock or tip due to an unlevel floor, simply turn the cam i in a clockwise direction beneath the caster failing to rest thereon, thereby raising said cam due to the inclined faces 8 and 9 of said cam view; further, the stove may be quickly, conveniently and readily leveled'so as to firmly rest upon an uneven floor; further, my adjustable floor plate may serve as a foot for the plate 14 and, when desired, the stove may be raised, one corner at a time, and the floor plates removed, whereupon the stove may be rolled or shifted from one place to another with the utmost ease.
While I have shown and described one particular embodiment of my invention it will be understood that certain changes and modifications can be made Without departing from the scope or spirit thereof as defined in the claims; and while my device is particularly adapted and intended for stoves, it may be used to adjustably support other objects.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. An adjustable support for stoves comprising a base having a plurality of inclined "upper surfaces formed thereon, a member pivotally mounted upon said base having a plurality of inclined surfaces on its under side adapted to cooperate with said firstmentioned surfaces to raise said pivotally mounted member when it is turned upon its pivot, substantially as set forth and for the purposes specified.
2. An adjustable support for stoves com prising a base having a plurality of inclined upper surfaces thereon, a cup-shaped member pivotally and rotatably mounted upon said base and having a plurality of inclined surfaces upon its underside adapted to co- ,operate with said first-mentioned surfaces to raise or lower said member upon said base and spaced apart guides on said base adjacent said pivotally mounted member adapted to locate, receive and hold a caster from turning when said pivotally mounted member is being adjusted, substantially as. set forth and for the purposes specified.
3. An adjustable support for stove legs comprising a base having curved inclined stepped surfaces thereon, a dished cam centrally and pivotally attached to said base and having inclined stepped surfaces on its underside cooperating with the inclined stepped surfaces on said base whereby when said cam is partially rotated upon said base :said dished surfaces is raised or lowered, depending upon the direction in which said cam is turned.
4. An adjustable support for stoves com- J prising a base having a circular support comprising a plurality of inc-lined upper surfaces, said inclined surfaces being stepped from each other on a bevel or incline, a circular member pivotally mounted upon said base and attached thereto and having inclined stepped surfaces on its under side to cooperate with said first-mentioned inclined surfaces to raise said member upon said base when it is turned upon its pivot, said inclined surfaces being stepped from each other on a bevel or incline, substantially as set forth and for the purposes specified.
