Description

July 5, 1932. A. F. EDMANDS BATH, MAT
Filed Nov. 20, 1930 Patented July 5, 1932 um'rsn STATES PATENT OFFICE as... me Iovember no, mo. florid n. m
I bath mats is by no means insignificant.
The object of the present invention is to roduce a cheap bath mat of paper adapted or one use, inexpensive in first cost, and
which may be renewed as inexpensively and 1:, probabl at a less expense than the laundry charge or washin a textile mat. Or, if its renewal exceeds slightly the cost of laundering a textile bath mat, the added expense per month, or any given period of time, would 20 be less because of.the insignificant first cost.
The invention consists in the paper bath mat hereinafter described and particularly defined in the claims.
The accompanying drawing is a perspec- 2 tive illustration of the invention.
The bathmat of the resent invention consists of a plurality of pieces of paper, all of the same size, the several layers being united at their margins by crimping or pressure. The crimped margin is shown at 11, and consists of a succession of little folds which extend through the several layers of the mat. The several layers of paper areassociated together, and then the margins are subjected to pressure or a crimpin operation by running the mat through uted' rollers or the like. This crim ing secures the several layers together su cientl for layers of the mat together when it is in. stock and when the user is unfoldin'g'it and spreading it on the bathroom floor. After use the mat is sim ly gathered up and thrown into the waste has et.
The paper of which the mat is made will the purpose of use, that is to say, it hol s the,
preferably be somewhat thicker than ordina tissue, and preferably it will consist of ree or four la ers of kraft paper having the edges united y crimping or otherwise. Another suitable material for the mat would o be lpaper towel stock.
he mat may match the ordinary paper towel used in bathrooms and other places, and might be made of anydesired color, thus, where a bathroom is-finished in Chanel red, ll themat may match the same, or be of some harmonizin color.
What is c aimed is;
1. A bath mat comprising a plurality of layers of aper whose central portions are co substantia 1y plane and whose mar 'ns are formed into crimps whose edges are 'rected substantially outwardly from the center of said mat.
2. A bathmat comprising'a plurality of no layers of paper whose central portions are su stantially plane and discrete and whose o posed margins are formed into crim ,.the directions of the edges of which are an antially parallel and outward from the center of the said mat.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
