Description
June 1932- s. R. BERGSTEDT 1,861,905
FISH LURE Filed Oct. 23, 1950 47.1 3. i :22??? A3 gnumdoz Patented June 7, 1932 PATENT OFFICE.
' BARBIE B. IBERGSTEDT, OF DULUTH, MINNESOTA FISH LUBE Y Application filed October 23, mo. Serial No. 490,685.
This invention relates to trolling spoons for fish hooks, the principal object being to produce a spoon having novel and attractive action when drawn through'the water; that is one having a tendency to alternately wabble and spin, it being found in practice that a spoon shaped in accordance with my present invention has a tendency first to wabble back and forth, on its back, for a number of times until sufficient momentum is acquired, or the stress forwardly thereupon is slightly augmented, when it'will spin or swirl.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will appear in the following descrip- 35 tion thereof.
Referring now to the accompanying drawing forming part of this application and wherein like reference characters indicate like parts:
Figure l is a top plan view of one of the improved spoons;
Figure 2 is a side elevation illustrating in dotted lines the longitudinal graduated curvature thereof; and
Figure 3represents three different transverse sections taken on the lines 1, 2 and 3,
respectively; while Figure 4 is a rear end elevation.
The principal characteristic of the spoon is that it is concavo-convex throughout, both transversely and longitudinally. Furthermore the curvature transversely at all points is of identical radius, while, the curvature longitudinally is graduated, being of shorter e5 radlus adjacent the rearmost end thereof.
The body portion of the spoon is illustrated at 1 and the head portion at 2, while centrally of the latter and adjacent the extreme end is provided a hole 3 for attach- 40 ment of a swivel or the like for the line, not shown, while adjacent the rearmost end is provided a hole 4 for attachment of an desired form of hook or hooks. v
Another characteristic of this spoon is that it is made of tempered, cold rolled, sheet copper, having a mirror polish; it being found that such metal can be made quite thin and yet have sufficient strength. to withstand considerable stress without losing its shape,
' and such metal having a-mirror hke finish is found to be of suflicient brightness, if adequately lacquered, to answer every purpose desired.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. A trolling spoon characterized by being of concavo-convex curvature both transversely and longitudinally, the radius of said longitudinal curvature being graduated.
2. A trolling spoon of substantially concavo-convex curvature throughout both transversely and longitudinally, characterized by the curvature transversely at all points being of identical radius, and the curvature longitudinally being of shorter radius adjacent the rearmost end thereof.
3. A trolling spoon of substantially concavo-convex curvature throughout, both transversely and longitudinally, characterized by the curvaturetransversely at allpoints being of identical radius, and the curvature longitudinally being graduated.
In testimony whereof I aflix m si ature.
