For the purpose of illustrating my'invention, I have shown in the accompanying drawings forms thereof which are at'present preferred by me, since the same havebeen found in pra-ctice'toigive satisfactory and re plan illustratin'gjmy 70 i liable results, although it is to be understood that the various instrumentalities of which my invention consists can be variously arranged and organized and that my invention is not limited to the precise arrangement and organization of the instrumentalities as herein shown and'described.
Referring to thedrawings in detail, the reference numeral 10 designates spaced floor members, as I-beams, which according to the present invention need not be accurately spaced. The reference numeral 11 designates pre-cast floor slabs of cementitious material of rectangular configuration and in practice are oblong, as illustrated.
, Inmolding or casting the floor slabs 11, I embed therein a reinforcement longitudinal- 1 thereof comprising a so-called plastereris c nncl 12 which extends from end to end of a slab. Each slab 11 is provided with a flanged portion .13 and in practice the bottoms of the channels 12 are in alignment with the tops of the flanges 13, as best seen in Figs.
3 and 4. Theflangedportions 13 of the slabs have arranged centrall with respect thereto a body portion the si e walls of which are bevelled, as at 1 4. The bevelled sides 14 are verticall notched as at 15, which notches extend rom the tops of the flangesto the tops of said bevelled bodies. Arranged cross-wise of each slab 11 are a plurality of flat strips 16 the ends of which are slotted as at '17 and, reject into the slotted portions 15 of the sla s.- In the connection it is to be noted that the cross-members or pieces 16 pass through slots in the central reinforcing channel 1 as best seen in Fig. 2. Each end of each sla is also verically slotted as at 18, into which project the ends of the channels 12. Each end of each channel 12 is slotted as at 19, best seen in Fig.2. These slotted ends of the channels rest upon the top of the e13 where said channels project into the slots 18. At these projecting points of the channels 12 I couple adjacent projecting ends ether by means of a metal clip,,as clearly illustrated in Fig. 5. Each clip is stamped from a single piece of metal and comprises a body portion 20 extended-from which at right angles thereto are spaced fin- .21. "Each finger is bevelled as at 22 so $11, when the fingers 21 are introduced through the slots 19 of the channels 12, the bevelled portionsin effect have a cam-like or 'grippingaction, thus serving to securely couple the channels together. I make use ofthe same type of clip for connecting togother'the opposed slotted ends of the crosspieces or members 16, as clearly illustrated in Fig. 1. In the connection it is to be noted thttheslotted vertical portions 15 in the bevelled side-walls of the slabs serve to pro tides-convenient places in which the clips my bewaocommodated. Between adjacent alabs longitudinally with respect thereto I position other plasterers channels 23 which rest .upon the tops of the flanges 13, as clearly shown in Fig. 3. These channels 23 extend from end to end of a building being erected. Laterally between adjacent ends of the slabs 11 I position members of wire having hooked ends 24 for engagin over the channels 23 upon opposite sides 0 each slab 11. These wire members are bent centrally thereof as at 25 so as to engage beneath the channels 23, as clearly shown in Fig. 3.
This arrangement of parts serves to securely couple together laterally considered adjacent slabs 11.
From the above'description it is apparent that efficiently reinforced square floor slabs may be tied or coupled together bothlongitudinally and laterally of a buildingistrub ture to interlock the slabs in such manner that even though the floor beams arenot equally spaced to permit adjacent edges of companion floor slabs to rest upon the floor beams, the efiicient interlock of slabs overcomes this defect.
After the slabs 11 are properlypositiomd upon the floor beams 10 the space between adjacent slabs is filled in with oemenfitious material flush with the slab tops. In the connection it is to be noted that the slab sides are provided with longitudinal grooves so that when the cementitious material is introduoed a key is formed between adjacent slabs.
Referring now more particularly to the modified form shown in Figs. 6 7, the slabs 11 have embedded therein longitudinally thereof reinforcing members 25. These reinforcing members at their ends QI'BSlOtr ted as'at 26. The slotted ends pro' beyond the ends of the slabs and over ap one another, as clearly shown in Fig. 6, so that the slots 26 of adj acent reinforcing members register one with another to accommodate clips 27 as best seen in Fig. 9. The clip, which is of metal and stamped fnom one piece, has a tapered end whichwhen introduced through the-registering slots of the reinforcing members 25 serves tocouple the slabs together. g
Referring now to the modified form shown in Fig. 10, the same clip 27 is emplo ed in this construction as is employed in" i 6 and 7. For the slabs 11 Euro extended laterally therethrough reinforcing members 28 having slotted endswhich r0- ject laterally beyondthe sides of the .sfibs, with the slots registering one with another to accommodate the clips 27. When this construction is employed, no plasterers' channels are utilized for between adjacent sides of the slabs 11. 7
Referring now to Fig. 8,!the same clip as shown in Fig.5 is employed for coupling together laterally considered the slabs-.11.
However, in this construction of parts thereinforeing members 23, which are mnbedded within and extend laterally of the slabs, have their slotted ends overlap and rest upon theupper face of'plasterers channels 23 with the j v v I stated, floor members, elongated pre-cast intermediate portion of said reinforcing 3 members passing through apertures'within plasterers channels 12 embedded within the slabs 11.-
If desired, as plainly shown in Fig. 1, the slabs 11 at certain portions throughout their extent may be provided with lateral exten- 'sions 30' against which the plasterers channels 28 abut, and use may be made of nails 31 for securing the plasterers channels to said extensions 30 in order to provide rigidity of parts.
- Referring now to Fig.2, more especially,
it is sometimes desired to anchor with respect l to the floor beams 10 the plasterers channels 12, and for this purpose I make .use of metal clips .32 having notched bottoms for engaging beneath the upper flange of a floor beam 10 and having their upper ends hooked over the plasterers channels 12; This arrange-- ment of parts serves to prevent cantingof the floor beams 10 in case of fire.
WVhat is claimed is s 1.
