This invention relates generally to lamp constructions and consists of certain novel features of construction, combinations and arrangements of parts, that Will be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims,
Heretofore the bulb sockets of certain lamps have been mounted in or carried by the reflectors or associated parts of the lamps and difliculty has been experienced in proper- 1 ly mounting the sockets in this. manner.
Moreover special bushings or other parts have been needed to accomplish the mount: ing and the cost of installing such parts has been quite an item. It is also customary in. certain lamp constructions topress inwardly.
an annular portion of the lamp body at the" free edge thereof to provide a seat for the door of the lamp. l/Vhen the body has a rounded outer surface and is relatively shallow it is diflicult to center the bodyin a so that the annular seat may be accurately formed. As a consequence I have provided an opening in the body at the center thereof to receive a centering pin so that the body may be centered in a jig and the seat may be accurately formed. I have also utilized this opening as a means for receiving a securing means for the lamp so that'th-e latter may be conveniently secured directly to the body of" the lamp at the axis thereof. In fact,- the securing means is such that it conceals the opening and provides a neat appearance.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure l is a vertical sectional view through a slightly modified construction;
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the door and yoke; v
Figure 3 is a sectionalview taken on the line 33 of Figure 1.
Referring now to the drawings, the rivet 20 used for securing the socket 21 to the body 22 at the axis of the latter is hollow and receives a screw 28 that threadedly engages the base 24 of a yoke'25 for securing the door 26' in closed position upon the body. As shown, the rivet 20 extends through aligned openings 27 and 28, respectively in the socket flange 29 and body 22 and has lateral flanges 30 and 31 respectively overlapping portions 'parts whereby the socket is secured directly 7 of thebody, a hollow rivet extending through 1930.
