provide a hydraulic operate with a mini- This invention aims to ram or pump which will mum amount of power and prove eiiicient and Aio capable of withstanding long-continued use, novel means being provided for producing relative movement between certain constituent parts of the device, to raise the water or other liquid with a ram-like action.
It is within the province of the disclosure to improve generally and to enhance the utility of devices of that type to which the present invention appertains.
With the above and other objects in view, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes may be made in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, within the scope of what is claimed, without .departing from the spirit of the invention.

henumeral 1 marks a well casing, the constituent members of which are held together by a coupling 2. A ring 3 is threaded in the casing l, as shown at 4, and has a tapered opening 5 in which is removably seated a tapered valve seat 6, the seat 6 being threaded at 7 into a barrel 8. A ball valve 9 cooperates with the seat 6, and upward movement of the ball valve 9 is limited by a cross pin 10 mounted in the barrel 8. The barrel 8 has an enlarged upper portion 11 forming a shoulder 12, and receiving a packing 14 held in place by a nut 15, a gland thus being formed, in which a hollow piston 16 is mounted for sliding movement, the hollow piston extending .downwardly into the barrel 8, In the lower end of the piston 16 there is a seat 41 cooperating with a check valve v40,
which may be a ball, upward movement of the ball valve 40 being limited by a stop pin 42 in the piston 16.
