This invention relates to new and useful improvements in exercising machines, and particularly to reducing machines.
One object of the invention is to provide an exercising machine of this character which is especially adapted for producing body v1-` brations of the patient in a manner simulating rolling.
Another object is to provide a device of this character by means of which the patient may be vibrated, upon grasping and holding certain parts of the machine.
A further object is to provide a device of this character wherein the patient may cause his body to be vibrated, after the manner of rolling, and at the same time cause his body to be further vibrated by grasping certain parts of the machine. Y
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings.

Referring particularly to the accompanying drawings, 10 represents a suitable base 40 which is adapted to ybe attached to a support, such as a table top 11, by means of the screw4 12, such base having openings for receiving the bolts 13 for attaching the various devices thereto.
Properly mounted on the base 10, adjacent one end, is an electric motor 14, one end of the shaft l5, of which, is provided with a grooved pulley 16. Mounted on the base, adjacent the pulley 16, is a bearing bracket 17 in which is supported the shaft 18, which ex- 1929. serial No. 374,304.

Rising from the center'cf .theiend 'of the base,opposite to that on which the motor is, mounted, is a post 24, which is hollow`v and has slots 25 in `opposite sides. Disposed within this hollow post is a vertical shaft 26, ada ted to rock therein, as will be later descri ed herein, shaft 26 is one end `of a stem 27, a shaft 28 being disposedthrough the vertical shaft 26. and into the stem 27. This portion of the stem 27 which is mounted on the vertical shaft 26 is disposed for movement in the slots 25, as well as the end portions of said shaft 28, to permit the stem to' be rocked laterally. Formed on the other endof theV stemv 27 is a transverse portion, indicated as a whole by Disposed on the Vvertical the numeral29, the outer 4face of Awhichis divided into two convex portions 30, V,which lincline,inwardly towardfthe adjacent end of the stem, such `portions having their outer faces partially scored, as vat 31. Formed on the member 29 at each-:side of the stem 27 and inclining upwardly and inwardly toward thepost 24, is yav stud'32, on which is removably disposedarubber hand-grip 33.
Connected to the inner end of theshaft 28 is the other end of the pitman rod 22, a selfaligning bearing 34 being of the type shown in the U. S. Patent #1,400,754, arranged between the shaft and said rod end. Removably engaged on the said end of the shaft 28, inwardly of the connection of the pitman, is a heavy block 35, which serves as a counterbalance for the rocker member 29. On each end of the portion'29, is a headed stem, or' button, 36, which is adapted to be received in the buttonhole 37, on the end of the strap 38.
A cover 39 is arranged over themechanism l on the base, such cover being properly at# tached to the base by the screws `4:0, and having an opening 41, in one end, through Which the stem 27 is adaptedto move, during the 5 operation of the device.
In one use of the device, the patient stands in a position facing the membery 29, the ends of the strap 3S being properly Vengaged with the buttons 36,`and the intermediate portion thereof engaged around the rear of the pa- 4 tient, at approximately the Waistline. The "motor is thenjstarted7 andthe patient leans back until he rests against the strap. The rocking ofthe member 29 Will alternately l5 pull the ends of the strap, with the result A that thepatient Will be `vibrated after the manner of rolling. 'Ihe more pressure the patientvexerts'against the strap, the stronger Y Will be the vibrations to his body.
'20 Y' Another manner of use of the device is for the patient to place his abdomen against the convex faces 30,'so that a patting massaging action will be accomplished. If the patient Y desires, hemay grasp thehandlesBS, at the Ysame timel that the members 30 operate againstthe abdomen, so that the arms Will transmit 'a VVvibratory motion to the upper portion of his body.` I-Ie may also grasp these handles While using thestrap, With a similar 30 result.
Thus the patient can alternate Vbetween the members 30 and the strap 38Whereby to 'massage the abdomen, and thenk massage the back. Ineach instance the arms, shoulders,
'u and upper portions of the `body of the patient Will be'subjected tovibration, through the mediumfof the handles 33.
