- My invention relates to wiring terminal construction.
'One of the objects of my invention is to provide an improved construct-ion in. which the Wiring may be eiecteld by inserting the 'bared ends'otthe'tvires into openings in the tion in which the base has openings for stocking the slack in case there is no room to push the slack back into the conduit or housing.
A further object is to provide an improved construction in which the socket interior may be secured in the shell in various adjusted positions.
Further objects will appear fronrthe description and claims.

Referring to the drawings in detail, the construction shown therein comprises threaded shell and center Contact members, 1 and 2, a pair of . wiring terminal constructions 3 and 4 for these contacts respectively and an insulating base 5 on which said contacts and wiring terminals are mounted.
The wiring terminal construction shown in perspective in Fig. 5 comprises a sheet metal stamping 6 having upper and lower bearing portions 7 and 8 and an intermediate inclined backing portion 9 extending between and connecting the bearing portions, a screw l0 swiveled in the bearing openings in said spaced bearing portions and a nut 11 threaded .on said screw having a beveled edge 12 between which and the inclined backing portion the bared end 13 of the wire is clamped. The screw is held in assembled relation with respect to the stamping by pinching theend of the screw, as shown at 14, after the screw has been passed through the bearing openings. The head 15 of the screw serves to hold the receptacle contact in assembled relation with respect to the Wir- ,ing terminal, the shank of the screw passing through an opening;r in the securing portion 16 oi the receptacle contact.
The center and shell contacts are held in nlace on the insulating base by means of an insulating button or disc 17 of suitable sheet material between which and'the insulating base the securing portions 16 of the contacts are clamped. The disc is positioned bv means of an elongated boss 18 (Fig. 2) on the insulating base. which fits in a lcorresponding` shane-d hole in the disc. The disc is securedy on the insulating base by means of a pair of eyelets 19. v P,
The insulatingy base is protided with'suitable openings Q0 extending longitudinally of the axis thereof for receiving and guiding' the bared ends 13 of the Wires into proper engalement with the Wiring terminals.
In order to provide storage space for any slack in the wires which cannot be pushed back into the conduit or housing the sides of the insulating base are provided with recesses or pockets 21 to receive a loop' 22 of the Wire, passages 23 being provided in the upper side of the insulating` hase leading from the longitudinally extendingr openings 2O to the side recesses 21 respectively.
The receptacle interior is housed in a sheet metal shell 24 which also serves to cover theP side recesses 21 and top passages 23. The upper end of the sheet metal shell is secured to a hexagonal nut E25 having a hexagonal portion E26 lying inside of the shell and engaging V a. correspondingly spaced hexagon-shaped recess 27 in the upper faceof the insulating bas-e. By means of this engagement the socket interior may be Secured and positioned in the shell in various positions of angular adjustment.

I claim:
